The Longhorns are pissed, and rightfully so. I can only hope that OU with an injured Bradford loses to Mizzu and further tarnishes the BCS system.
Let's face facts...it's USC v. Penn St in the Rose Bowl. Even if Oklahoma loses to Missouri, USC will not pass Texas for a spot in the BCS title game. USC is too far behind in the computers to make it up in one week against 4-7 UCLA. Besides, Texas got screwed out of the Big 12 title game. If Oklahoma loses, the human voters will rationalize that Texas should have gone to the Big 12 title game (and would have beaten Missouri again). The other spot will go the Fla-Ala winner, no matter how that game turns out.
If Texas does go ahead of USC to the BCS Title game, it will be the third time that a non-champ from the Big 12 went ahead of the Pac 10 champs. Oregon got royally screwed by Nebraska (who didn't make Big 12 title game) in 2001, and USC got screwed by Oklahoma (who lost Big 12 Title game to Kansas St.) in 2003.
Unlike the past, USC gets no late-season boost from beating rivals ND and UCLA this year. Moreover, the Pac-10 did no favors by losing all those games to the Mountain West. Ohio St losing to Penn St and Virginia losing in the mediocre ACC didn't help either.
I still can't fathom how USC lost to Oregon St., especially after the Ducks opened up a can of whoopass on the Beavers. USC missed out of the BCS title game because of one bad half....no, make that one freak play...the tipped ball caught in the endzone to make it 21-0 right before the half.
Beat the bRuins!!
Beat the Nittany Lions!!
Fight On!!
Don't forget about the idiotic personal foul on Averil Spicer on the failed third down play that made that freak play possible.
I'll bet Pete's still pissed off about that one.
