Mark Sanchez's 17 passes against Stanford were the fewest by a USC quarterback since Carson Palmer attempted 14 against Washington in 2001, Coach Pete Carroll's first season.

Wow, a vastly overmatched 1-3 USC team went on the road to play the #11 team in the country; rushed the ball effectively all day long and, if not for a last second field, would have pushed the Huskies into overtime.
Sounds like that actually might have been the game that started the "turnaround" for Pete Carroll and the Trojans. Forget that Hackett's run, run, pass, punt strategy rarely (pronounced NEVER) worked.
Obscure and meaningless stat. I, for one, would be extremely excited if USC did not pass a single time the rest of the season as long as the games are won.
Passing game is exciting, but most losing teams have decent passing numbers...and lots of turnovers.

About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
