This is Exhibit A why the Pac-10 is not the SEC. Or Big 12. Sloppy play. Penalties. USC is in control but to lead 10-3 over Cal is not impressive.

I think the SEC is pretty poor. I don't think they're the SEC in your memory. LSU and Alabama was terrible. Florida looks pretty good but who elsedo you think is so great?

And obviously you continue to show your lack of football knowledge and that you are only very bitter negative. If you had seen the Bama - LSU game, you would have seen (in your own words) a "sloppy SEC game". 7 turnovers combined. Yeah that's real quality play by those SEC teams. So put you shoot off on another one of your negative tangents, why you don't do some "fact checking". Fight On!

Yes Scott, the Pac-10 is certainly not the SEC. SEC officials keep their hankies in their pockets. Pac-10 officials throw flags willy nilly. Proof? Lets looks at the total penalties accepted for Pac 10 games today:

UA v. WSU: 14 penalties.
Stan v. OU: 17 penalties.
ASU v. UW: 12 thru 3 quarters.
ORST v. UCLA: 18 penalties.

Let's look at SEC games:

UGA v. UK: 8 penalties.
Ark. v. So. Carolina: 9 penalites
AUB v. UTM: 8 penalites.
ALA v. LSU: 7 penalties.

No one is saying the Pac-10 top to bottom is better than the SEC. But with a little reporting, a little curiosity, you might discover that the Pac-10 is over-officiated, much to the point where it's almost impossible to get a rhythm going since the refs are throwing 20 flags a game.

Scott, wanna explain that alleged "offensive lineman down field" call on Cal. Not one cal lineman released. Absolutely crappy call. Pac 10 officials are the worst in college football.

A 10-3 score is called defense, Scott. Big 12 schools don't have them. More stupid penalties by SC's O, but this game is 100% about SC's D.

Have you watched any games this year other than SC?

I have to agree with a lot of what has been said, the pac 10 officials are the WORST. That said, SC is a good team, not a great team, mainly due to their defense. And I've about lost my patience with Sarkisian, call a frickin game for once! against a good team. It is very frustrating watching this team, and while I'm at it do you think we can use a scholarship for an fn punter????

Has anyone seen SC's offense?

We haven't hit the century mark in penalities yet, oh wait, Josh Pinkard holding. Where's my gun.

wow...don't know how to post about this mess...maybe Pete better stop bitching about the BCS

Can someone explain to me why they keep running the ball up the middle? Oh wait, they can't run up the middle. Sarkisian needs to move on. This is the most frustrating game to watch. Penalties, come on, show some discipline and stop the bleeding. And is there anyone who can catch a ball? Get some continuity and keep Stafon Johnson in with Havili or someone! ugh!!

maybe we should just let the defense play the whole game

You do not need to be a lineman to be illegally down field. I love how it took the announcers 15 minutes to figure that out.

You're right, nobody in the PAC 10 lost to Wyoming at home today like the UT Vols did...

What makes the SEC and Big 12 what they are is that they schedule the absolute worst non-conference opponents they can find, which allows several teams to go deep in the season undefeated or with one loss, get a nice high poll ranking, all without ever beating a good team.

To be more like the SEC and Big 12, Oregon State and Cal should have scheduled Eastern Washington or Sacramento State instead of Penn State, Utah and Maryland. That would have allowed both teams to come into the weekend highly ranked with one loss.

You have to look beyond the won-lost record and see how highly regarded teams like Missouri, Oklahoma State, Georgia, LSU have been totally pantsed against better teams.

There are three good teams in the Big 12, two in the SEC, at least two in the Pac-10.

And ditto to what everyone's already said about that horrible Alabama-LSU game. What a mess.
