About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."

Hard to see a five loss (Stan) or six loss (UCLA) team beating USC. As for ND, they were just shutout by BC.
The Holiday Bowl or worse is deserved if USC does not FINISH 3-0.
As covered in earlier posts, USC needs help but it is not impossible. One would be a highly ranked Missouri team knocking off the South team in the Big 12 Championship in KC. Another would be UF losing to FSU or SCar and then upsetting Alabama in the SEC CG.
Not impossible and in fact probably near 50-50 that one of these occur. Look at last year!
Thanks to T&T and uscmike laying the groundwork I spent a moment figuring out the likely outcome of this season:
1. Florida 12-1
2. Oklahoma 12-1
3. Texas 11-1
4. Texas T 11-1
5. Alabama 12-1
6. USC 11-1
However, does anybody know who goes to the Big-12 Championship game if Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech are all tied? I presume Ok will beat Texas T.
Now, if Missouri beats any of these teams (probably Ok) in the championship then SC may have a chance if Florida lays a big one on Alabama and Oklahoma exposes Texas Tech's defense. Otherwise they may not drop below SC because they lost to Top-5 teams.
P.S. I think the answer to my question is that if Texas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma are all tied in conference, then whichever team is ranked highest in the BCS will play Missouri. I would think Ok beating Texas T would cause Ok to leapfrog Texas.
But who knows?
In any event, it is a real longshot that SC gets in but SC-Penn St in the Rose Bowl would be nice.
SC in the Championship game; I don't see it happening, not to mention all of you seem to have dismissed Oregon State.
SC's best hopes is an invitation to another bowl game with perhaps a second place SEC or BIG12 Team. If they win, there is a good chance they will open the '09 season with a second or third place ranking.
