Stanford's pass defense is ranked ninth in the Pac-10 but it forced USC to become a running team.

So SC pass game is still as predictable and Walker of UCLA said it was ?

Just win baby! Who cares *HOW* you get the "W", just that you do.

BTW, I thought we are a running team, isn't that why we have so many RB's and not enough footballs to go around?

One more note, in football, you take what the other team gives you and exploit it to your advantage. I believe we accomplished that Saturday.

Ciao baby!

Ever think that Stanford specifically prepared to defend Sanchez because over the course of this season USC has not really depended or featured the run game as it's primary mode of attack. They sold out trying to get to Sanchez and had pressure on him all day long while PC destroyed Stanford by outcoaching Harbaugh and adjusting to run the ball down their throats.

You are just another example of the list of reasons why so called journalism is a fleeting industry Scott.

I will say this though... at least Sark was finally humble enough to go to what worked and got the win. Don't know if arrogance is the right word but I'll use it... Last year he was too arrogant and refused to go to the run which cost us the win. I've had coaches like that... "No, this will work!" "No, this should work!"... they want to prove to themselves and everyone else they were/are right. All SC had to do was run the ball last year and the game was over. Instead, they kept trying to force JDB and his bum finger to throw the ball, resulting in the picks and the loss. Do what works!

Frankly, with the athletes we have, we need to pound the ball more, get in rhythm with all the different personnel we have, then play the pass off that. We do way too much cutesy passing, particularly in the beginning of games and on the road. The worst series was the very first after the long run back, and not one stinking run attempt. I wouldn't mind so much if the passes were normal, but two were basically sideways. Running early gets people into the flow... into the feel of the game. These 2 second sideways passes and done deals really delay getting the guys into the game.

Finally, though maybe Wolf would like it to be, there just isn't anything wrong with winning and dominating by running the ball over people. We should be doing that more.

I ALMOST NEVER agree with Scott Wolf (a.p. poll, bashing Leinart, etc), but I am on the same page with him regarding this win. O.k., so we won, but a win is not a win. We didn't beat Stanford because of better coaching or better effort. We won because we have better athletes. You can't rely on that. When we play teams with good athletes, unless it's in a bowl, we tend to struggle. Why? Because we don't coach and play with the effort that we should.

I am all about supporting SC, but I am not going to drink the kool-aid and say we have it together, because we don't. With the talent we have we shouldn't be struggling like we are. There's a reason that we are going to miss the nc game for the third straight season. Talent alone won't get you there and it is time to start calling it like it is.

No, Sark's weak play calling forced us to resort to our phenominal run game - luckily we were able to get bailed out by out stellar RB's!

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
