No Birthday Party?
Tonight's basketball game against New Mexico State tips off at 6 p.m.so the team can fly to Puerto Rico immediately afterward. This reminds us of the last strange tipoff not due to television.
It occurred when USC moved a game to 5 p.m. against Siena. Why? Because Elizabeth Hackett, the wife of former USC Paul Hackett, had a birthday party at a downtown hotel and moving up the tipoff allowed the athletic dept. to attend.

There is no comparision between moving a game so the team can travel to a tournament on a better schedule and moving a game so staff can attend a party.
