No Stepheson

USC will officially announce sometime today (or tonight at this rate) that Alex Stepheson did not receive a waiver to gain instant eligibility. This comes as no surprise because Stepheson heard since the summer it was unlikely the NCAA would grant the waiver.

Not a surprise. Even filing for the waiver was a waste of time.
The irony is that with Hansbrough's injury he would be playing lots of minutes right now for The Heels. UNC's 7' Freshman Tyler Zeller was playing vs. UK last night but needs wrist surgery and may be out for the year too.

By the way, I'm surprised Tim Floyd was unscathed in ESPN.com's current expose on NCAA hoops rule-bending.

Why, Scott? Was his family illness situation not serious enough for the NCAA? What about his situation led to a NO from the NCAA, when all the media buzz that I had read said it was a likely YES?
