USC's defense (and Oregon's victory) set the stage for another trip to Pasadena on New Year's Day.

I'm coming to terms with the Rose Bowl. Penn State is a far more worthy foe than Illinois and at least its not a rematch with tOSU so soon.
I'd like to think a Mizzou upset in the B12 CG gets USC to the Big Dance, we'll have to see.
Avoid turnovers and UCLA should be a low speed bump on the way to The Granddaddy.

How good did Marc Tyler and Malcom Smith look last night? The future is bright!

I agree with T&T's take, Penn State is a much better team, than what the Illini brought to the Rose Bowl. And there is no comparison, "THE Uckeyes" are not close to JoePa this season.

Just keep the focus all week, and the "D" will deliver another message, "WE ARE THE BEST IN THE NATION"!

We got a glimpse in to the future last night with both Mark and Malcom. I didn't realize how agile Mark is, he just kept his feet moving on each run (may be it was smart for Broderick to head out).

Yes, I agree. People do seem to be forgetting that Penn State brings more national respect than an Illinois.

I have one question for everyone:

Is Marc Tyler the "real deal?"

I'm not trying to start an argument, I just haven't seen much of him against a strong defense.

Sam Gilbert, did you even watch the last quarter of the game last night? Tyler showed a lot, even with some second teamers blocking for him. I was very impressed and believe he is the "real deal". With his speed and body type, we're in good shape at that RB position after our current starters leave.

My only trepidation with Tyler is a problem his dad Wendell had when he played for the Rams. That's the F word of course, although Marc secured the ball well last night. Can't always judge son like father though.

Should be a great Rose Bowl between 2 very good one loss teams who are betrayed by their weaker conferences.

Yes, yes, yes, rationalize another trip to the Rose Bowl you Rah Rah clowns. One loss to another inferior team has your butts in Pasadena once again. Enjoy your butt numbing up on those cold hard aluminum benches new years day and remember that loss in Corvallis to a team that gave up 60+ yesterday. One other thing, PSU can run the ball and SC doesn't do well with that, it might be a bad day in Pasadena 1/1/09. HAVE FUN RAH RAH'S !!!!!!!!

Once again rrb shows that he is a complete idiot. We've lost one game this year, too bad we're not perfect like he is. I guess he would like to go back to Smith, Tollner and I can't Hackett. See you in Pasadena.

How in the world can you rationalize PSU being a decent opponnent. It really is getting old to have nothing to gain by having to play someone ranked below the Trojans year after year. I am beginning to hate this Pac-10 tie-in with the Big 10 and the Rose Bowl.

Too bad for you gnossos, you accept losing to inferior teams like ucla, Oregon state and Stanford on a yearly basis. I guess you like the consolation bowl that is the Rose Bowl. Have a good time with your numb azz and apparently brain as well. MAybe one day you'll wake up to the fact that Petie Carroll can't get em over the hump anymore, maybe he should hire MEN and not sycophant boys to coach the players. Ho hum, another year another BLOWN chance at the crystal football, next year will be more of the same, RAH RAH RAH !!!

I don't know whether Penn State will bring more to the Rose Bowl game than Michigan or Illinois. I do know that Michigan and Illinois were "replacement" teams for the real Big 10 Champ, Ohio St., who was getting beat in the BCS title games. I actually think the Rose Bowl will be a competitive, defense-oriented game, perhaps like the Cal and Arizona games.

It sucks that USC missed out again this year. Three years in a row where USC had the chance to go to the title game, but blew it against an inferior opponent.

....and Rah Rah still bites.

I look forward to Neuweasal figuring a way to beat us and ending up in the Sun Bowl.

All this whining about having to play in the Rose Bowl each year is pathetic. It was more fun losing to Utah in the Las Vegas Bowl???
