Pac-10 Race

Who would believe as USC and Cal play each other this week that the Bears are the team that controls its own destiny for the Rose Bowl race?
Then again, Oregon State coach Mike Riley is 0-9 against UCLA as an assistant at USC and head coach at OSU, so maybe the Trojans control their destiny too.

I had previously stated that 11-1 USC would get a BCS invite even if Oregon State wins out and earns the Rose Bowl nod. It looks pretty good right now.

If Alabama and Texas Tech play in the NCG, there would be 8 other BCS spots in 4 bowls. Penn Sate and Oreg St would take the Rose. Florida, Texas, ACC Champ, Big East Champ, and Boise or Utah would take one. There goes 7 spots.
I believe the SEC and Big 12 would have maxed out their BCS bids at 2 each, eliminating OU from the mix.
USC will be ranked higher than any other Big 10, Big East, or ACC team and should get the nod. Really the only other threat would be if Boise and Utah both jumped them in the BCS standings.
