Stepheson Delay

| | Comments (2) |

A decision on USC basketball player Alex Stepheson's eligibility was expected today but the NCAA has forwarded paperwork to his former school, North Carolina, that must be filled out before it makes a decision. This could take 7-10 days, according to USC and means Stepheson will miss Saturday's opener against UC Irvine at the very least.

Why is the NCAA so draconian?

it seems like this wasn't expected...

why has this dragged on for so long? it seems like the only issue is whether Stephenson's father (i think it is?) is ill enough to warrant him having to transfer school to be closer to him. either he is or he, right? or is that too harsh?

Having an extra (quality) body like Stephenson's could make the difference this year.

typical NCAA BS. BUT, if they are taking the time to have UNC sign off on paperwork, then I am going to presume that they have agreed to grant Stepheson's eligibility in principle. that may be a stretch, but I think this is a small hint at a positive outcome, perhaps. if so, then we can wait 10 days.
