USC No. 7
USC dropped to No. 7 in the BCS rankings today with Alabama No. 1 and Texas Tech now No. 2. The weakness of the Pac-10 definitely appears to be hurting the Trojans right now.

There are currently four teams ahead of USC that have head-to-head matchups: Oklahoma-Texas Tech and Alabama-Florida (potentially in SEC Championship). That moves USC up two spots to 5th. Then, USC needs three more teams to lose: Penn St, Texas, and Florida or Alabama. USC needs the SEC Champ and/or Big 12 Champ to have two losses. It is, sadly, a long shot.
I still think Oregon St loses and USC wins the Pac-10 Championship again.
USC essentially needs the top SEC and B12 reams to have two losses to jump them in the BCS.
So far Georgia, LSU, and Missouri have complied.
Now they need Florida, OU, and Texas to lose again to gain any ground.
at the rate it's going, if usc wins out they might drop out of the top 25.
about moving up, it doesn't seem to matter who loses, the loser always ends up ahead of usc. it appears no one respects them this year. next year might be even worse. i hope usc schedules more games against top tier teams from the big 12 and sec - if they'll accept.
Another wasted season. Pete fails to prepare the team for the third year in a row. Cant beat a 26 point underdog? Joke.
When do you think he will figure it out?
Alabama and Florida, one will lose game as they play each other.
Texas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma, will lose two games as they will play two against each other.
Penn St. has to win 3 in a row.
If USC wins out they have a good chance.
1. Alabama .9747
2. Texas Tech .9372
3. Penn State .900
4. Texas .853
5. Florida .826
6. Oklahoma .822
7. USC .755
8. Utah .697
9. Oklahoma State .666
The mediocrity of the Pac-10 would be a moot point if we would stop losing to clearly inferior teams. Not a SINGLE player on OSU's roster was even offered a scholarship by USC, yet we've lost to them 2 out of the last 3 seasons...that, my friends, is disgusting.
Am I the only one who thinks that even if USC would have beaten the Beavers, it would have made no difference this season. Even if USC went undefeated, they would have been on the outside looking in because of the Pac 10 this season...
TxTech, OU, and Okla St all play each other down the stretch, so we know 2 of those 3 will lose. Texas has an easier schedule and holds the tiebreaker advantage over OU and OSU. Hope that TxTech wins out, then loses to Mizzu in Big-12 Champ. But, TxTech is not a good road team, so look for Okla St or OU to win out, putting Texas in the Big-12 Champ and a likely Miami berth. Advantage Texas.
Bama has a two game conference lead and Florida has an easy schedule down the stretch and a tiebreaker advantage. Look for Bama and Florida in SEC Champ with winner going to Miami.
IF Texas doesn't win the Big 12, or IF the SEC Champ has two losses, then Penn St can go to Miami. But, Penn St still has tough games against Iowa and Mich St. Look for Penn St to lose one of these two games.
If two of these three things happen, the SC can slip into the BCS: Texas or Tx Tech do not win Big-12 Champ, Florida or Bama SEC champ has two losses, and/or Penn St loses another game, then USC can slip in.
There are a lot of games left. Upsets late in the season are the norm, and we are just entering Nov. I still give USC a solid 20% chance of making it to the BCS, and if not, a Penn St Rose Bowl game will still be a good game in an imperfect BCS world.
It would take a few twists, like USC and Oregon State winning out, Oklahoma and Texas winning out until the Big XII championship game, LSU or Florida winning the SEC, after one more Florida loss (@FSU), and of course, Penn State losing to Iowa or MSU, but it wouldn't be impossible this year to have Oklahoma play USC for the title, even with Oregon State and Missouri winning their conferences. I hate the BCS.
BCS, Polls, it's all BS, back in 1978 we beat Alabama in Birmingham, 24-14, finished 12-1 and split the National Championship with???? fricking Alabama, go figure,, it won't make any sense until we have a playoff system like all the other divisions. Too logical?????
Hope the stupid revenue driven Conference Championship games come back and bite the SEC and Big 12 in the butt.
People need to stop bringing up point spreads. Point spreads are not a good indicator of how much better one team is than another. The whole point of the point spread is to get as much even action as the bookies can get. That means that a big name like USC is always going to have an inflated point spread.
Anyone with half a brain would have looked at SC's record vs OSU in Corvallis in the 2000's and figured on a tough game. Even with Reggie & Matt, they struggled to pull one off up there. Oregon State at home is a very tough team. In fact, the Beavers are undefeated at home this year. And traditionally, they start off slow and work themselves up near the middle and end of the year. This year, they were ambushed by Stanford in the very first game of the year, lost in Happy Valley in the second game of the year, destroyed Hawaii (in similar fashion to Wolf's wet dream, Florida), surprised SC, lost a heartbreaker to #8 (in the BCS) Utah, and have won every game thereafter.
Oregon State is not a bad team, and as much as we should have beat them, that game was no gimme. They just kept making first downs and we didn't. That entire game came down to third down conversions. They made theirs, we did not. You can say what you want about that game, but I truly think that OSU at home is very tough, and I would never just expect to go in there and win by 26.
Fight On!
You shut out a Division 1-A team, and SLIDE in ranking? There's something gravely wrong here. It's time to go independent. There will be teams lined up that will gladly boost the strength of USC schedule instead of weakening it. What's more, we wouldn't have to share all the precious dollars made from the bowl games with these wimpy, and yet, unappreciative teams.

I have said it before and I'll continue to say it: The Big XII is a hoax. The polls have them all elevated because pollsters love offense. This is what this conference is, except they can't play defense so the numbers themselves are inflated even further.
Alabama? Really? The only BCS team that they have handled appropriate to a number 1 ranking is Clemson, and they have fired their coach and are near the bottom of their conference. We all saw how overranked Georgia was again this weekend. They even struggled through 2 quarters against powerful Arkansas State (why are they playing a game like that in the middle of conference? Only one answer to that...).
So, people like Wolfe are saying that Alabama can beat any team anywhere by selecting them #1. There is nothing scary about that team whatsoever.
My question is what team wants to play USC in a winner take all environment? Anyone?
The Big 12 is like watching arena football.
SUC plays nothing but crap teams and you cry about being at 7. Their strength of schedule is 40, they are lucky the BCS doesn't take that into consideration. Once Petey grows some balls and starts scheduling them against some tough teams then maybe they'll deserve to be higher.
Like Tennessee?
Fresno St?
