Answer Monday! (Part 7)
I'm considering a moratorium on Morrell Presley questions.
Q: Like a reader ahead of me, my question about UONA was answered on the Sunday live chat, so I would like to ask instead, do you get the feeling that PC is almost reduced to offering in desperation now, what with all the other possible de-commits, like the 2 soft verbals, and Fangupo,to go along with Presley and Campbell, or do you see us as still having a top 5 class with Kennard, Telford, and Adams probably coming, along with maybe the usual sleeper or two? Thanx, Scott, and thanx for the live chats too.
A: I'm probably repeating myself but none of the guys mentioned were make-or-break guys. They helped complete the class but they were not the ones I really looked at as making the most impact. Now I could be wrong, but that's my opinion. I said this to people last year too, so it's not sour grapes. I would be more interested if Patrick Hall decommited. But none of these other guys.
Q: How did the Fat Man manage to pull Cierre Wood out of California? Did Pete Carroll make a serious run at him?
A: USC looked at him but Wood was smart. He went somewhere where he could play right away. Not everyone is cut out for USC. If you can stand the cold, Notre Dame isn't a bad place to get playing time. Look at Jimmy Clausen. He would be sitting on the bench at USC but he's played two seasons at Notre Dame.
Q: Scott, how about making us feel better and telling us the reasons why you were not impressed with Pressley,i.e. what are his weaknesses, what does he lack, etc.?
A: I'm going to defer on this question because I don't want to needlessly criticize. I mentioned earlier I was not impressed at the camp but that is entirely my opinion and if someone disagrees, that's cool.

Seriously, Presley is no loss. Ayles is going to dominate the position for the next 3 years. Presley looks way too skinny for TE. He should be playing basketball and not football.
Also, I think Presley only averaged about 3 catches per game and 1 TD every other game. Not very impressive numbers.
I just think its interesting that here it is at 10:09 PM and there is no Wolf post on the basketball team's win over Georgia Tech (from the mighty ACC nonetheless -- or Scott, the equivalent of beating LSU this year in football in the SEC.) I bet if we were losing big at half he would have found a way to start an in-game post and criticize Floyd, DeRozan, and the team.
By 19 points I might add.
