Answer Monday! (SG Forum, Part 2)
We pay tribute to George Lucas in this segment.
Q: I know you want to say Tricia Pillsbury is the most famous Song Girl ever, but based on overwhelmingly evidence, you have to begrudgingly admit that title goes to Natalie Nelson. And it isn't even close. Any way you look at it, she is a genuine global sensation. Ms Pillsbury came along twenty years too early. If she came along now, maybe she would be the most famous Song Girl, but much of that depends on whether she would have been involved in any scandals.
A: Well, on this blog, we can anoint our own most famous song girl! Maybe the advisors should thank us for choosing our most famous song girl because of her positive attributes rather than someone who cheered for the other team.
Q: USC fans keep whining over their opposition or apathy to playing in yet another Rose Bowl, but are you not surprised we haven't heard tremendous delight coming from the Song Girl camp over the same prospect? After all, it is in the Rose Bowl when USC faces Midwestern schools with their dowdy and unglamorous cheerleaders. There is nothing for the Song Girls to be intimidated about when facing schools from places such as Ohio, Illinois or Pennsylvania (that last state is actually in the East).
When Brady Quinn was being shown during the 2007 NFL Draft (while not being drafted), media outlets went crazy over how unattractive he and his girlfriend were. It ended up being justified by commentators saying, "Well, they are from Ohio, what else do you expect?"
So the worst case scenario for the Song Girls would be if USC ended up in the BCS Championship game and played an SEC school full of beautiful Southern cheerleaders. Now wouldn't that be a nightmare? At least at the Rose Bowl, for one day only, the Song Girls would be the far more attractive cheerleaders on the field. Isn't that just how they want it?
A: Perhaps we need to find some pictures of the Penn State cheerleaders to determine just how ``lopsided'' this matchup will be. I'm sure an enterprising reader can dig up something.
Q: When George Lucas was a student at USC and coming up with the early ideas for the Star Wars saga, did he ever envision that by the time the new millennium came around the USC Song Girls will have gone over to The Dark Side?
A: Maybe that's why he is personally building his new cinematic arts building. Because he no longer trusts the university to uphold quality or tradition. By the way, this is no joke. Lucas demanded that he construct the building because he did not trust USC to build it to his standards. And it's a beautiful structure if you have not seen it.
Can you blame Lucas? He didn't want a leaky roof after 2 years, like over at the Galen Center.

Natalie Nelson is a star. Granted, she is a star for all the wrong reasons, but she's a star nonetheless.
I have to be honest, as embarrassing as the Song Girls have been this decade, I am sure they are probably still better than the Penn State cheerleaders. I have never seen the Penn State cheerleaders but I have been to Pittsburgh and the women there were horrible. They wore work boots, flannel shirts, and many had nose rings. They were pale and overweight and did not seem to care about personal grooming.
This is one time where I think it is safe to say the USC Song Girls will be the better cheerleaders on the field that day.
@TrojaninDC: Lawyer John would should be the judge of courtroom protocol here, but I'll see if I can get this going.

Is the jury ready to weigh in?
Best picture ever of the Penn State cheerleaders:

An entire website full of pictures of the Penn State cheerleaders:

After looking at all those pictures, I will not complain about our song girls.
This picture trumps every single other picture:

Enjoy!
Ladies and Gentlemen, it took all season, but we finally have a breakthrough. For the first game of the year, I hereby declare the USC SongGirls the winners in a romp over the Penn St Nittany Nancies. The Nittany Nancies are simply brutal. I believe the Stanford Dollies might even be favored in that matchup. Congrats SGs! 1 - 12 this season is very bad, but at least you avoided the shutout.
