Answer Tuesday! (SG Forum, Part 2)
Some good questions being asked here by discerning readers.
Q: It's been said before by many others but it's worth repeating once again - why do the song girls of the 2000s still have Facebook accounts? Even Sarah Carmona STILL has an account despite what happened to her. That one is beyond the realm of all rational comprehension. Shocking really. Why do they not close these accounts especially in light of how their embarrassing pictures show up on the internet every week and become national stories? Why does their coach not tell them to close their Facebook accounts? Are they THAT dense or do they enjoy being publicly embarrassed while also continuing the national mockery of not only the song girls, but also of USC? Do they simply enjoy the attention/notoriety these pictures bring them and don't care how they or USC are perceived so long as their names become well-known?
A: I'd be happier if Pete Carroll dropped his Facebook account. But I've long said that I do not understand why anyone needs Facebook accounts that publicize their lives. No one is that interesting to know what they are doing every 10 minutes.
Q: There is such a thing as holding on to a job for too long. Coaches come and go. Presidents come and go. Why will the coach and advisor for the USC Song Girls not go? Why will they not allow new life to be brought in and make the Song Girls relevant again. The product is stale and has been stale for about about ten years now. Surely this cannot be seen as a "career choice" by these women or is it?
A: As they say, you're a Bruin for four years and a USC employee for life. Maybe everyone is just waiting for Art Bartner to make his move.
Q: Could the reason someone is claiming Tricia Pillsbury was not a print journalism major at USC be so that she would not, like former Song Girl Celeste Fremon before her, decide to write an expose uncovering the corruption and nepotism that has allowed to take over and ruin the once-great Song Girl organization, making it the embarrassment it has been this decade?
A: Yes, there are great fears that Tricia Pillsbury writing ability could offer this century's expose into the song girls. Imagine the valuable information she could offer if she utilized her writing skills. It would be epic. And I'd be willing to print it on this blog. Unedited!

Sarah Carmona still has a Facebook account? I heard from friends of mine who happen to know this former Tr-Delt when her pictures became internet sensations she referred to herself as a "rock star." Guess she enjoys the attention rather than feeling any sense of embarrassment. Ho hum.
