Did you know USC wore white jerseys at home regularly during the 1930's? Someone needs to ask Julie Bescos about this. I'm still not sure exactly when the Cardinal v. Blue jersey because a crosstown tradition. But it might be the 1960's.
On page 182 of the media guide, there is a picture of Jim Sears celebrating after SC's victory over UCLA in 1952. He is wearing a white, road jersey.
In the book, The Best Little Rivarlry in Town, there is a picture of the team captains meeting before the 1955 USC/UCLA game; the UCLA captains appear to be in white shirts.

Did the Beavers have more motivation to beat the Mighty Trojans than they did to make their first Rose Bowl in 50+ years in losing to Oregon?

A: Oregon State beat USC at the line of scrimmage -- on both sides of the ball. Oregon State had the element of surprise against USC. They never enjoy that luxury against archrival Oregon.
