The Jeff Byers Fan Club has been too preoccupied with questions about him appearing topless on 60 Minutes Sunday afternoon to keep track of his eligibility application. I didn't know it went to the conference, though. I assumed it went to the NCAA. The clarification and additional information is appreciated.
I cannot fathom why it should take so long for something so simple, to decide on. He submitted his standard format application, some pinhead in the Pac 10 office reviews it and forwards it to the NCAA...Then what, sit's in a file for 3 months before someone simply reads it and makes a decision? The kid and his team are left holding the bag awaiting the decision. Sure wonder what these folks have to do in those Pac 10 and NCAA offices that is so ultra time consuming that they have to take a half a season to answer a simple application. "Well let's see, shall we go to martini's, lunch and get in 9 holes before dark today or do we look at USC's application for their great offensive lineman? Ahhhhh lets set USC on the back burner and go get them martini's theres always time for them later..
I envision the NCAA admins in a similar role as Vince Vaughn as Fred Claus. They sit in a big office with two stamps, and in a most arbitrary, careless fashion, they stamp the various applications....Naughty, Nice, Naughty, Nice, Naughty, Naughty, Naughty!
