Job Preservation Act
Syracuse athletic director Daryl Gross hired former Orangeman captain and player Doug Mazzone as the new coach. An extremely safe choice which protects Gross from blame for ignoring the alumni after the disastrous Greg Robinson hire.

Scott, I believe his name is Marrone, I know that z key is fairly close to the r, but you need to pay attention to details.
They say university of Buffalo's Turner Gill wanted the position. Great job Syracuse!
"Turner Gill gets turned down in favor of Saints assistant Doug Marrone.
Let’s do the tale of the tape:
Turner Gill has successfully turned around one of the worst college football programs ever.
Doug Marrone is the Saints offensive coordinator (remember, Sean Payton makes the offensive calls) with no head coaching experience at any level.
Turner Gill can move right away into the head coaching position at Syracuse.
Doug Marrone will have to wait until the NFL season is over to take over, missing valuable recruiting time.
Turner Gill coached two All-Americans QB's and was a part of three national title teams during his 15 years coaching collegiate football, mostly at Nebraska.
Doug Marrone is an alumni of Syracuse…The same guy who hired Mr. Marrone also hired Greg Robinson, another coach who was hired because of his NFL pedigree.
How’d that turn out?"
Just another of Scott Wolf's anti-USC posts. When is USC going to get a decent beat reporter from the Daily News?
Syracuse has really gone into the tank since the Donovan McNabb era. Why don't they bring back Jim Brown in come capacity to at least recruit the Tri-State area. Maybe some granparents would let the recruits know who Brown was and have some sway.
At least they have a team though. I can't wear my Fullerton baseball cap without somebody thiking the F
