Midfield Meeting

If you attended the game, you probably saw a near-meeting between the teams in the middle of the field before the start of the second half. USC came out and started dancing and then UCLA got excited and the teams headed toward midfield.
``We were over there dancing to the music songs that came on,'' wide receiver Patrick Turner said. ``What was that song? `Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh.' I think it was that one. That's one of the songs we dance to before the games. I guess they took it the wrong way and they came over there. We were just jumping.''

Any idea what the song was? I'd love to play it when I meet with a Bruin fan Monday.

No, it was some sort of nondescript techno thing. I believe it was playing behind some sort of video feature on the Jumbotron.

You know, this was almost the exact same deal as last week's pre-game altercation with Notre Dame.

The USC players gathered at the end of their sideline for their pre-kickoff pump-up session at the end of halftime. Like they do every week. For some reason, the UCLA bench emptied and the team crossed the entire width of the field to confront the 'SC players. I didn't see any taunting or teasing. I guess they just didn't appreciate the hopping up and down.

I can understand the frustration. But it's odd that the UCLA coaches can't control their players.

After the game, Carroll sort of blew off the UCLA response -- "It's a rivalry game," or something like that. But Neuheisel said that his players responded CORRECTLY by going over to tell USC to knock it off and said THERE SHOULD BE A RULE AGAINST THE PUMP-UP SESSIONS. Bizarre.

Well, in fairness to UCLA (I can't believe I just wrote that), if another team started a "pump-up session" in the middle of the Coliseum field to start the 2nd half, I don't think USC would just sit back and let it happen. "YOU MUST PROTECT THIS HOUSE!" comes to mind.

If what I saw was correct and I was at the game, SC started jumping up and down on their own sideline, the ruins took offense and came out to mid field and then SC came out to meet them. I guess the gutty little ruins were trying to "mark" their territory.

My favorite part of the dance off was Rey was kind of apart from both groups and was doing dancing jumping jacks for lack of a better term several feat away from both groups. Kind of funny
