More On Havili
USC coach Pete Carroll spoke a little bit more today regarding Stanley Havili's situation.
``In the system of accounting for the grades, it took a long time for his grades to get through. Three of our guys are in the same situation. One reason or another. It took
awhile. He came up short units-wise, so he can't play.''

Hmmm. Let's see. If a student athlete needs 12 units to be eligible, stay eligible, continue to be eligible, isn't it quite simple what needs to be done to remain eligible after the semester is completed? "He came up short units-wise." WOW.
Coach-speak for, "He flunked underwater basket weaving, so he dropped down to 8 units"
Hopefully Pete does not tutor him in English and the appropriate use of hyphens.
I think Scottie boy is responsible for the grammar (unless PC had to write it out for him)
Most times, eligibility isn't a reflection of one semester alone, it is instead a sum of all academic semesters. So Stanley may have needed more (or less) than the standard 12 units usually required for one semester. That said, it still should have been fairly simple for the football program to figure out precisely how many units were needed and how many were earned.
Sureshot, your blog is killing me, "precisely how many units were needed and how many were earned" WE R SC not MIT.
