I really hope Morton is the right guy for this job. We should at least give him the benefit of the doubt. Continuity? Yep, he'll give us that. But the question is: Will he bring more flavors to the plain vanilla of the current offense?
Good choice!
I am shocked. What happened to hiring the best talent available, namely Carl Smith?
Another OC that has never called a play at any level ? Hope this one is better then the last two.
LOL, Pete doesn't want adults on his staff, when will you guys get this ? He appointed another yes man, Pete will call the plays, Morton will relay them to the QB, get it?
Pete must really love Scott Wolf. By making inexperienced insider hires he guarantees 3 more years of mediocre offense and gives Scott's blog plenty of material.
If the quarterbacks made dramatic improvements over their career (like they used to), if the offense made big improvements from beginning of the year to the end (like it used to), if the offense would play better each quarter and dominate the 4th (like it used to), and if the country looked at the SC offense as artistic (as it used to), what would Scott have to muckrake about?
yeah I don't understand this one...
Morton is s good Coach who has earned a chance. IMO
He will be inheriting a rock em' sock em' offense next year that he has been helping to develop for the last 2 years.
Yeah, I think Morton could be good. And, actually, if we can add Carl Smith as an offensive assistant, QB coach or something, then I think they will make a great team. I had forgotten Carl Smith's background, but after rereading his incredibly impressive bio, I think he would make a great pairing with Morton. And, all of his former QBs love Carl Smith. But, Morton is more prone to be young and innovative. Of course, Coach Pete might veto any innovation.
Prediction: 2009 is the breakout year for Joe McKnight. He's too good not to be a national star and Heisman candidate. The offense rides Joe Mc next year.
UGH.
