I have a theory for why no print journalism majors from the 1980s have any memories of seeing Tricia Pillsbury in any of her classes. In many teen films, there is usually an awkward and unglamorous girl who is invisible to the rest of the school. She wears her hair back in a bun and has thick horn-rimmed glasses. Yet as soon as she takes her glasses off and puts her hair down -- which takes all of a few seconds, but it's slowed down in films and set to dramatic music -- she suddenly becomes beautiful and the most popular girl on campus. All the boys say, "Who is THAT?! Is she new here?"

So perhaps Ms Pillsbury deliberately put her hair back and wore glasses so she would go incognito in her classes?

How come whenever I see the Oregon cheerleaders, I feel a sense of happiness, but when I see the USC Song Girls, I get so very sad?

Every year, despite having very mediocre and pedestrian squads, the Song Girl squad accepts the lone attractive member to compensate for the rest of the squads.

This past year, it was clearly Keli. And now she's been cut. She was the one Song Girl who really should've been the only one to have made it again next year.

Do you think the Song Girl leadership is trying to drive us crazy by appearing to be willing to cut existing members, but include the only attractive Song Girl who deserved to return?

I think they're trying to mess with us by cutting the sole attractive Song Girl this year. I wouldn't put it past them to be this spiteful.
