Post-Practice Report

Stanley Havili is hobbled by a sore ankle. Fili Moala, who sprained his ankle during a practice, returned and is fine. Blake Ayles is still not running as he slowly recovers from knee surgery.
Pete Carroll said he still has not officially hired Carl Smith as quarterbacks coach. Smith also called plays from the sideline for the New Orleans Saints. Yesterday we mentioned he did it for a season in Jacksonville.
One of the practice visitors was new Washington secondary coach Demetrice Martin, who coached at USC for two seasons.

Whoa! Ok, so Sark is an employee and we have reached a mutual agreement for him to coach in the Rose Bowl. I don't think it is all that big of deal. NOW, however, Sark's new coaches are attending practices???!! Ok, so Demetrice previously coached at SC. But, to let rival coaches attend practice??? Really? That sounds like a really bad idea to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
