If USC lost to UCLA on Saturday, could the Trojans still be selected for a BCS bowl?

About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."

If SC loses to UCLA, they be relieved to even get a Holiday Bowl bid. There is NO excuse to lose to the 2008 UCLA team. None. If it happens and the Trojans get a BCS bid, the entire BCS should be dismantled immediately.
A more likely occurrence would be an unscheduled sun eclipse on Saturday, thus resulting in the game being cancelled.
Yes, it could happen. If terrorists nuked Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida, while an epidemic broke out in Corvalis, requiring permanent quarantine of the surrounding 20 miles, we could play Penn State for the NC.
If Wolf had balls he'd be a man
If a frog had wings, it wouldn't bump its ass.
I suppose it's possible that USC could slip into the last at-large berth with a 10-2 record, but I doubt it. The Pac-10 is weak this year, and no one wants to award two BCS berths to the Pac-10. On the other hand, USC is a more attractive team over, say, Boise St.
If Oklahoma beats Missouri, the at-large berths will go to:
(1) Utah,
(2) loser of Alabama-Florida (Sugar Bowl),
(3) Texas (Fiesta Bowl), and
(4) Ohio State
If Missouri beats Oklahoma, the at-large berths will go to:
(1) Utah,
(2) loser of Alabama-Florida (Sugar Bowl),
(3) Ohio State
(4) Boise State
(Texas Tech can't go to a BCS Bowl if two teams from its conference [Okl/Texas or Missouri/Texas] go to a BCS bowl game.) Thus, USC would have a better chance of getting an at-large berth if Missouri beats Oklahoma.
Of course, USC is not going to lose to UCLA, so this is all a moot point.
If SC loses to ucla, Pete Carroll should be fired on the spot !
Bruin lover Rah Rah would love to see Pete Carroll gone from USC. Then maybe the Bruins could get a few more of their coveted three star recruits.
Where's the love for Ball State?? SC could get in but won't. I'd kind of like to see Boise St. vs Utah or either vs the weak Big East or ACC.
As mentioned, losing to bRuins ain't gonna happen. And it won't be close. If there was any doubt about the Trojan intensity, the home unis will put them in a frenzy!
UCLA's winning probability is about the same as America electing a guy named Hussein to the white house. Whoaaaa, wait a minute......
Mike, your Big XII math is off. They're getting two teams into the BCS no matter who wins their championship. (MO/TEX, or OK/TEX) so that wouldn't help our cause. I'm not 100% sure that a 10-2 team that we beat like a drum would get in ahead us, but they could. I would be more pissed about tOSU getting into a BCS game ahead of us than I would about BSU getting in with a perfect record.
FIGHT ON!
Hey Sureshot:
Actually, the teams I listed were the four at-large berths in two different scenarios (assuming USC lost to UCLA). The first scenario assumed Oklahoma was in the BCS Title Game and Texas got the at-large berth. The second scenario assumed Texas was in the BCS title game (because Missouri beat Oklahoma), and the Big 12 would not have an at-large team because Missouri would be the conference champ in the Fiesta Bowl. Sorry if I didn't make it clear.
