Royal Recommendation
So Oregon named offensive coordinator Chip Kelly the successor to Coach Mike Bellotti. This is all started because Kelly was about to interview for the Syracuse job. And who do you think recommended Kelly for that job? We hear none other than Pete Carroll.

Why would the duck administration even bother asking Pete??
I assume Scott's post refers to Pete's connection to Syracuse A.D. Daryl Gross, who used to work at USC. I assume that Carroll and Gross discussed viable candidates, and Pete mentioned Chip Kelly to Gross (maybe to get him out of the Pac-10?). I have to assume this because Scott does not make it very clear.
uscmike, I think you hit it dead on. I have to wonder though, did Gross give PC a call and say "hey, is Sark available?". May be PC then pointed gross in direction of Kelley.
You're right though, Wolfeee is being Wolfeee (leaving out information in his blog).
Fight On!
uscmike and kptrojan are on the right track. Daryl Gross is sorely missed and I think would be a front runner to replace Garrett. It's clear he and Pete remain close. If you're Gross, who would you call? Let's see...oh...the most successful coach in college football is on speed dial...I think I'll call him... Scott...do you need the area code for Syracuse?
I have been a Sark supporter, and did not buy into the gimmicky spread offenses of Oregon, Hawaii, and Tx Tech. But, now that established programs like OU, Texas and Florida have used it with such great success, it appears to me that USC must look at incorporating some spread offense principles if we ever hope to be a top 5 national offense again. So, how about we give Sark to UW and hire Kelly?
Pete wants Kelly out of Oregon. He doen't like the fact the Ducks have a real OC and he is stuck with a overmatched buddy.
exactly right Lane. Next year Oregon probably wins the conference and SC finishes second or third. Rebuilding on defense and same crappy offense = long year for the Trojans.
