Sack Exchange

| | Comments (1) |

USC did not allow a sack yesterday, which was quite a difference from the 2006 game when UCLA applied pressure the whole game.
Conversely, the Trojans did not sack quarterback Kevin Craft one time. This is consistent with USC's desire to stay in its base defense against UCLA, content to play it safe against a struggling offense.

Actually Scott, the SC defense was putting pressure on Craft consistently. The fact of the matter is, Chow and Slick Rick were happy to run the ball and throw short in order to keep the game close and give their defense a rest. I can't think of one time Craft tried to throw anything really long, but of course that goes against your desire to criticize SC.

UCLA was playing not to lose big, instead of making an attempt at actually winning the game.

And as for your thoughts written elsewhere, that are critical of the SC offense because they only scored 28. If not for Buehler missing THREE kicks and just playing vanilla in the second half by running so much, it should have at least been 37-7, more if we had "run it up."

By the way, you shouldn't use your AP vote to try to stir up controversy on your blog.
