Uniform Penalty Change
Pac-10 coordinator of football officials Dave Cutaia requested clarification on what the penalty would be for violation of the football rule regarding contrasting colors for football jerseys. Following is the interpretation from NCAA Secretary-Rules Editor Rogers Redding. It differs from previous interpretations received on the same subject. Bottom line--the team in violation will be assessed one timeout.
The Pac-10 intends to again request the Football Rules Committee at its next meeting to eliminate the portion that says one team must wear white and simply have the rule state that the teams must wear jerseys of contrasting colors.
Rule 1-4-3-a (FR-30) specifies that (1) the teams must wear jerseys of contrasting colors, (2) the visitors must wear white jerseys, and (3) the home team may wear white jerseys when the teams have so agreed prior to the start of the season.
Rule 1-4-4 (FR-31) does not show contrasting or white jerseys in the list of mandatory equipment, and Rule 1-4-5 (FR-32) does not specify that non-compliance with the jersey color rules constitutes illegal equipment. However, it is absolutely clear that the intent of the rules committee is that the colors of the jerseys on the opposing teams must be contrasting. It is also the intent of the committee that one and only one team wear white jerseys.
Regarding non-compliance of the jersey-color rule, the current interpretation is as follows:
Players of opposing teams must wear jerseys of contrasting colors. If the home team wears colored jerseys and the visiting team does not wear white jerseys, the visiting team will be assessed one timeout following the opening kickoff of the game. The game will proceed from that point with no further penalty for the violation.

Seriously, what would happen if we were to totally paste FUCLA, maybe not 100-0, but say 66-0. That is entirely plausible. And, Mizzu beats OU handily, hurting OU and Texas. Or, Florida beats Bama in an ugly game. Isn't there at least a mathematical possibility for SC to sneak into the BCS game?

Carrol is a real tool. He's got very little class on the field of play and acts like some little league mom cheering her steriod-child to victory over the innocent normal kids. How does USC get away with the Reggie Bush bs and OJ Mayo bs.
Maybe if the NCAA actually allowed these young men to earn some of the billions college football generates USC would find everyone else on more equal footing.
Not to mention, the referees love them.
Who cares about jersey's but Carrol's sense of entitlement is pathetic. I hope he gets speared on the sideline, just like the spear Malaluga layed on the UCLA QB that year they were supposed to shutout the mighty little bruins and came up short once again.
What's it like to be equated with NFL teams every year but end up blowing it to teams like Texas, Stanford, Oregon, and UCLA?
I love how bruins talk about class and then display none themselves.
As far as Carrol is concerned the bruins are blindly jealous and envious of the man. They are like average looking women hating a beautiful woman.
Carrol is a special person. His players love him, and his players' mothers love him when he enters their homes to pitch Trojan football. He talks to his players on the sideline as if they are his buddies, unless of course on the rare occasion he is chewing them out for committing a silly penalty. He has a brilliant and varied mind that is always working. And his enthusiasm should be copied by all males who mistakenly think cool is hip. It is not. Hot is in, and Carrol is molten.
A guy with the monniker eat the rich accuses Pete of having no class? Look in the mirror and what do you see? pathetic jealously, good luck Saturday.
His players love him, and his players' mothers love him
I'm sure they do. He comes bearing bags of money.
Why is Scott posting on his own blog under the name, Eat the Rich?
Regarding the unform change, I applaud Coach Carroll for doing it. It is such a wonderful part of the pageantry of this game. I hope that 1) Pac 10 gets the rule changed with the NCAA and 2) if they don't I hope that UCLA will be bold enough to do the same thing next year. Thanks Coach!
It would be great to see Coach Rick N. immediately call a time out at the beginning of the game.
EAT this!
the word out of South Bend is that Charlie Weis will be there for another year. an official announcement may be made this week (possibly tomorrow). i'm surprised given how poorly they played in the second half of the season and with a complete lack of fundamentals.
Eat the Rich: I'll have fries with my order.
Thank you.

Thank you.
Did you have to pay someone to think that up AND write it for you?
Mmmm... Really looking forward to dinner tonight.
Thinking of going out for BBQ.
How about the rest of you?
Dunno. I'm kind of in the mood for Mexican. Or maybe Thai. Is there any good BBQ in LA?
I'm kind of partial to Mom's BBQ in Sherman Oaks.
Thai sounds good too.
Picking up steaks on the way home. Maybe a baked potato.
Hmmm. Steaks sound good too.
Redmond, WA or Redmond, OR? Maybe we can get a steak together?
Redmond, OR. Sorry!
USC should present me with an award. I think this is the most comments this blog has ever seen.

This one is really creepy. And when did USC start training cops? Why network into THAT career?
Changed my mind. I'm getting Thai.
Good choice!
Did you two go to USC and move north, or do you just like to be on the bandwagon?
I'm thinking about trying out a new sushi place on the westside.
No, dude, you need to get down to Little Tokyo!
Can't! No time tonight.
Sasabune on Wilshire's the only good sushi on the westside. Go there every time I'm in town.
I used to go to Nozawa in Studio City but it's way too expensive.
Eat the Rich: Cut the small talk and get my burger, fries and coke. NOW.
Is this some sort of USC-speak you use to distract me while you hone in on my position?
Mmmmmm, do you guys know what "hone" means?
See? That's why you need to spend more time in Little Tokyo. Great sushi, and won't break the bank.

Que, jefe?
Hey, I love the sushi restaurants in Little Tokyo, but I work on the westside, and even though gas prices have come down recently you still have to factor that in.
Speaking of gas prices, I just filled up for $1.90 / gal!
Wow. That's great. You guys have pretty high gas taxes in Washington.
Still over $2 here. I really expected to see $5.
Nah, I knew it was only a matter of time before demand dropped. Odd that we haven't seen all the gas surcharge fees disappear yet, huh?
Well, the airlines may have seen their costs drop but I think demand is off for them too.
Mercy!!!! Uncle!!!!
You win. You're boring me to death.
See ya, Mr. Wolff.
Eat: Bored? Or working the swing shift at Jack In The Box? I'll bet it's the latter.
Anyone been to Benihanas lately? Oh man!
Did I just tune into the Food Channel?
California Rolls at Sasabune on Wilshire?... $17.00
Dragon Rolls with Sake?..................... $25.00
Keeping "EAT THE RICH" supressed by totally ignoring his "romper room" antics? Then to see that he got tired and curled up in a fetal position next to his FUCLA Bruin Plushie?........................ PRICELESS!
awesome
Thanks for all that food talk and getting rid of eat the bitch
