We hear Fresno State's Pat Hill and Texas Tech coach Mike Leach were never offered the Washington job. Not surprising, with Leach's personality considered an interview killer.

Pat Hill surprised me a bit. I thought he would be a perfect fit. Maybe not enough "elite academic pedigree" for some of the snobby UW alums. What about the Utah coach? I thought he was a candidate and good fit too. But, I think it's a good move for Sark, and a good time for USC to bring in some new blood on offense.

Yeah, never mind his success in single-handedly lifting TT to prominence, never mind being one of college football's great offensive innovators, it's all about personality.....yeah personality will lift UW out of the basement, not actual head coaching success.

About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
