Assistant coach John Morton said he would definitely be interested in the offensive coordinator's job at USC. But he could also be a candidate at Washington because Steve Sarkisian brought him to USC.
At this point, former assistant coach Carl Smith remains the frontrunner and of course, officially, nothing's happened.

I think that I like Morton, but what other candidates should be considered? How about the Boise St or Utah OC?
I have always believe that USC rise to the top reminded me of Florida St. in the 90's. The reason Florida St. has fallen down was the defection of O and D Coord., ie Mark Richt and Chuck Amato. The question will always remain if Flordia St. successes were a product of these good coordinators and that is why they struggled.
I believe these defections can be good and re-energize a program, keeping them at the forefront of college football, but what tends to happen is programs hire within, trying to keep the same schemes. What they end up with is a diluted version of what made them successful, ie Chow to Kiffin to Sark.
USC doesn't need a massive overhaul like Oregon did in hiring Chip Kelly, and getting away from the Belloti/Tedford offense, but stepping awau from the Chow disciples could be good, and won't allow USC's opponents to have 6 years of game film to watch for tendencies.
Who that person is, I have no clue, but lets hope they are more innovative with the massive amount of talent at USC's disposal.
Since John Morton has came the receiver play has fallen significantly, Turner, Hazelton, Johnson, and Patterson have all played less than stellar.
I feel that USC should like into some outside young offensive coordinator like Mustain's high school coach at Tulsa or another young guy who can relate to recruits and players like maybe a quarterbacks coach at some school like Major Applewhite or an NFL guy. USC does not use trick plays which are needed in college since players like them.
Mr Sam, I think you would be an ideal candidate for OC, please tell us your trick plays.
Just someone that has called plays before. Watching this Kiffin-Sark roll coaster has been annoying to say the least.
Gnossos = blog lint. Never has anything to input only bitches. We can only hope Morton goes north with Sark, but until EGO Pete stops messing with the O, it won't matter.
DFWTrojan, it won't matter what OC is hired, EGO PETE CARROLL IS THE OC !!!!!!!!
Agree with fighton. Last few years have looked just like the path Florida State took. Another buddy hire or inside hire will continue the trend. Better to be like Texas, which went out and got the best defensive coordinator in the country when they needed one (Gene Chizik, then Will Muschamp).
