What's Wrong This Picture?
USC blows out Ohio State and the Buckeyes are supposed to get the Fiesta Bowl's at-large berth? Ohio State didn't beat anybody this season. Neither did USC but it did beat Ohio State. USC vs. Texas is a game that would rival Florida vs. Oklahoma. This system is not working.

the sysytem isn't working, becuase hacks like you have a say in it.
The Rose Bowl tie in with both the Pac and Big 10 is what screws this up. That's why I was hoping Oregon State would beat Oregon and the Fiesta Bowl with USC against Texas might be for the AP Title.
USC didn't beat anybody? Scott, you are truly as dumb as a bag of Bruin.
* USC beat 5 bowl teams (including the runner-up to the National Champion (2 years running) by 32 points).
* SC won one game by one touchdown, one by two touchdowns, and 7 others by at least three touchdowns or more.
* SC beat a Virginia team that was competitive in the surprisingly tough ACC (look at last weekend when the ACC opened up a can on your SEC) by 45 points
* SC had the best defense (statistically and otherwise) college football has seen in two decades.
* SC held Cal to 30 points under their season scoring average, Arizona to 27 points under their average, Oregon to 32 points under their average, and tOSU to 25 points under their average.
* In one game, SC beat tOSU by more points than their cumulative regular season losses from 2005-2008. (the Buckeyes only lost by a total of 24 points in those 4 years combined)
I'd say SC did beat someone... they just beat 'em so bad, they looked like "nobodies" after the game.
FIGHT ON!
Check that...
"* SC won one game by one touchdown, one by two touchdowns, and 7 others by at least three touchdowns or more."
should read:
"* SC won one game by one touchdown, one by two touchdowns, and 9 others by at least three touchdowns or more."
In this case the system did work. USC-PSU is the best bowl game outside the BCSCG. To be honest, I would bet there are more people around the country interested in this game than the BCSCG.
Don't bellyache about the system when your preposterous weekly votes just added to the absurdity.
I'm sure people are on pins n needles waiting in anticipation of a riveting VT vs Cincy Orange bowl. Yawn.
I stipulate & agree that a playoff would be better than the BCS.
But in the Fiesta Bowl's defense, who else should they have taken? At that point (with two Big-12 teams already selected, Texas Tech & OK St. were ineligible) their options were the unallocated automatics (which always are left until last 'cause no one wants them - typically the Big East champ & the non-BCS school), and one at-large selection from among OSU, Boise State, TCU, and Georgia Tech. They sure as hell weren't going to pick a second non-BCS school (no matter how intriguing it may have been or how deserving an undefeated BSU team may have been), and that left a 10-2 Big-Ten co-champ in OSU vs. a 9-3 ACC division runner-up. I'm sure they agonized over that one.
@trojanfanmatt31... Actually, Scott isn't part of the system. The AP demanded that its poll be removed from the BCS formula in December, 2004. It's no longer part of the deal.
