Carroll And Cornerback
There's been a split during the recruitment of Randall Carroll with most schools allowing him to play wide receiver while USC envisions him as a cornerback. A college coach who unsuccessfully recruited Carroll at another school as a wide receiver said today he actually thinks Carroll would have a better career at cornerback.

All this recruiting talk is a waste.
Why?
See Whitney Lewis.
Take my word USC'89:
Be thankful that a forum like this one gives you constantly a lot of information about the school recruiting progress. I know of one school that very little is done to promote recruiting like is done for USC here. BTW the school that I'm referring to was the conference champion.
Yup! And every recruit since Whitney Lewis has been a bust too! We should just skip the entire recruiting process and go with walk-ons.
Let the kid comPete and if he's no bueno at wr then he'll know he was at least given a fair shot.
all this recruiting drama started with T. Pryor, holding out and holding out past LOI day and it's out of hand. Mark May was right to slam Pryor...just look at this year! You have people like Stan Hasiak commiting to 3 different schools as a "soft Verbal" and no team knows what these kids are going to do...total out of control 17 and 18 year old morons making coaches and schools' look stupid for their ego trip.
If he doesn't want to come to USC goodbye go to ND and have fun with fans throwing ice balls at you Randall good luck
Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Carroll also want Desean Jackson to play DB as well, it worked out for him playing WR while at Cal. I am not bashing on Carroll's decisions, I am just saying all a kid needs is hard work and determination and they could play any position they want.
Trjnman good call, I remember that. We screwed the pooch on that one. Desean at SC would have been a HT and probably another NC. Desean was good at shifting hitting angles and making people miss while always moving forward. He knows what to do with his ridiculous speed. Carroll didn't see that, apparently looking at size. It was worth however to watch him run all by "SEC speed".
Jackson (2005-2007) might have been a 3rd WR in the first two years behind Dwayne Jarrett (2005-06) and Steve Smith (2005-06). He would have been the No. 1 WR in 2007. However, he is not a team player, and apparently forgets were the end zone begins.
Besides, if he played for USC, we never would have seen Ellison destroy Jackson in 2006. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sA7iUhVqiEw&feature=related
As for Randall Carroll, he should start at CB and USC run offensive plays for him like Michigan did for Charles Woodsen.
True. I forgot momentarily how annoying Desean was which offsets the loss more. Plus the hit. HAHAHA.
It would be great if Randall Carroll did that. I hope they ran the opportunity by him. What's more you get a better shot at the NFL and a longer career since fast, sizable corners are always in very high demand they say, while receivers are a dime a dozen.
I hope we get Carroll but we got plenty of talent.
