Why would any SC fan worry about losing Sarkisian or Holt? Smith is more than Sark's equal and when Smith has "been around practice" the USC offensive production in the ensuing game has miraculously taken a huge step up on each and every occasion.

As for the defense, I have only one question. Does anyone think Holt actually called the defense in the games? Things are on the way up and with Smith on O and Carroll on D, SC should be back in business, if they have ever been out. MJDavidson

He tricked Pete Carroll and took the money the second time. Do it the first time when you were offered and it is ok. When Pete Carroll and him were suppose to visit Kennard and other recruits he leaves. He was never good anyway, good he left.

We have to replace too many players on defense for 2009. I expect us to play in El Paso or Las Vegas during bowl season.

Nick Holt respects SC and Pete so much. It is just time for him to stand on his own. He admits that he ran DEF practice and did game planning but Pete called the DEF during the game. What DC would not like to be able to do that himself? To stand on his own? To have total control of the DEF?

Pete, SC will be better, you better be. Having another PAC 10 team to watch in the Rose Bowls like you did during the Don James era with UW is good for your program. You have it too easy now with the Patsy PAC 10. UW will be back fighting with USC for Rose Bowls. This will be fun!

bhamhusky- You got the "B" players. Holt didn't make a dime over $300k, which IS cheap for a program like ours. Sark/Holt are great guys, but be rest assured they are not "A" players. You're a big talker for a "dog" sh*t program like UW. BTW, without payola, DJ wouldn't have gone to the RB either. Woof woof woof

What a bunch of Hollywood queens - bhamhusky is right. Your girl splits amicably and in order to keep your nuts swingin' high you trash her.

Sark and Holt and Michalczik are three very good coaches that will no doubt turn this thing around quickly. We're extremely happy to have them in Seattle. You can rationalize all you want in that over priced strip mall you call Southern California - we'll see you on the football field soon enough girls!!

Interesting how two washington husky males feel compelled to chime in and they both sound alike-- rather crude, vulgar individuals wouldn't you say. At least the bruins keep it somewhat civil.

And Pete Carroll was not dissing Holt or Sark or any of his ex-coaches, it is not his style. He wishes for them to be promoted to bigger jobs. It's just that Carroll is such a positive thinker that he really believes that SC will get better each year. Whether this is the case remains to be seen, but for 7-years running SC has been pretty fair on the field.

Come on! First we put up with cry-baby Ruin fans and now this? Dogs: how many games did you win last year? Go find a puppy post to play on. Yes, you got some fine new coaches. Go talk about them somewhere else. They're not at SC anymore, so we don't care. I'll be in Seattle for the game, so maybe you can buy me a microbrew.

I think PC is psyched about the challenge. You can't forget that he is all about competing and one of the challenges for his success is potential complacency. Now there is fan static about losing the OC and DC. It is probably going to motivate PC for the program to do even better than the recent past. My money is on PC.

These people are crazy. i'm a husky fan but I have a lot of respect for USC. They have done more since 2000 than any other program in America. We have a long ways to go at UW to even come close to your league. Nice hires but coaches dont win games, players do and there is a long ways to go before we climb out from under 0-12. its going to take time and patience with a min. of 3 years to get this thing turned.

I want UW to be extremely successful. The likes of Holt and Sark did us proud while here. Now they've moved on to stand alone..good for them and good luck to them both. I'm certain that PC is going to oversee a stable course ahead without them and there's no reason to doubt that PC has things under control. The best part of UW improving is that it helps our Pac 10 strength of schedule numbers, which basically did us in this year!

Anybody who cites Monty Python is ok by me. And thanks for the ESPN link - I had no idea our city has tanked in sports the last few years!

Look, the bottom line is I have nothing but respect for what Pete Carroll has done over the last six or seven years. I'd like nothing more than UW to get back up to the level of SC football. It truly is a remarkable achievement. That's why having young, energetic, talented guys (Sarkisian and Holt) who have seen first hand how it's done come to Washington has us so thrilled. I mean c'mon - Willingham, Sark. Willingham, Sark. Who would you choose??

Look, I hope Sark and Nick do well, but come on, they are not Vince Lombardi or Don Shula. They are up and coming "bit" players that could be just "about" anyone. They are B's, not A's. That was proved at Idaho and the Raiders. We'll see. I doubt they will compete with SC. Maybe WSU, UofA, ASU, Stanford.....but forget about it.

Both kissed off any hope of ever coming back.
