Decisions, Decisions

This was an entertaining game tonight, but USC's depth was an issue and again I thinks this points to some recruiting decisions. Specifically, USC is really getting contributions from only two new players this season (DeMar DeRozan, Leonard Washington) out of five scholarships awarded. That doesn't cut it, especially when you need a point guard and another forward.

Not sure if Lil Romeo is on scholarship, but if so then count DeMar Derozan for two scholies.

Cute how Lil Romeo had his warm ups off as if he was actually going to see some playing time tonight!

Scottie is right on about USC's recruiting. They need to start sooner on their recruiting. I bet they haven't even started looking at the great young point guards like Austin McBroom at Campell Hall.

It would be nice if Floyd and staff would really recruit LA, meaning Los Angeles, not LA as in Louisiana.

Howland gave out 4 scholarships (I think), and he's only really getting contributions from Holiday. So he's getting production from 25% of his new scholarship players vs. Floyd's 40%.

This blog is so lame, but it updates more frequently than Adam Rose's, and it's not a PR machine like Ben Malcomson's (which only covers football).

LA Times got rid of their UCLA blogger, so Adam Rose pulls double duty for USC and UCLA. Any chance Dohn can take over this blog? I know blog's are more informal, but can USC at least get a blogger who pretends to be professional?

Jon, the OC Register USC blog is very good. Frequent updates and insightful analysis. This blog is more for entertainment purposes...gossip, flaming, cheerleaders, and conjecture. Take it for what it's worth. Nice take from PLH on LA recruiting. Floyd still seems to be scraping together recruits with a bandaid strategy. But, I am not sure that anyone could do better. I think Floyd is doing an excellent job and we just need that one big tourney run to break open LA recruiting. This could have been the year with Stepheson and Cunningham on board. Now, we must wait to next season. And, perhaps DeRozan stays for round 2.

Thanks, DFW. I'll give the OC Register a try. You're spot on with your description of this blog. Hopefully the OC Register has what I'm looking for. I appreciate Wolf's answer posts and chats, but there's too much other junk in this blog.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
