Guess I'm the first (and only)?

Went to the game, as usual, and witnessed the third-straight Galen Center morale-sapping defeat to the Bruins.

It's always a 2-3 point game with a minute to go, accompanied by the strong feeling that we likely don't have a chance.

Through bad luck (Cunningham, Washington), bad decisions (brain-dead Davon Jefferson) and bad assumptions (Stephenson playing this year) the Trojans are down to about three reliable players, literally zero bench, but all the moxie and determination anyone could ask for.

The single and solitary fact is that in a close game, the Bruins believe they are going to win, and the Trojans don't have the same confidence. Think about it: UCLA shot 42%, and yet trailed for about five minutes the entire game.

Interested in thoughts about Dwight Lewis playing 40 minutes and scoring four points (two on a layup), the Trojans committing only eight turnovers and yet not recording one steal.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
