There's quite a bit of anger being expressed within the athletic dept. at the highest levels right now regarding Mark Sanchez's departure.
I'm getting the feeling Mark Sanchez will not be honored at any functions in the near future.

Can you provide a little more detail please. Who and what did you observe?

Of course he won't.

From another blog:

Carroll cited a study that shows 62 percent of underclassmen quarterbacks who declare early for the Draft eventually don’t pan out in the NFL. He also pointed to Sanchez’s NFL Draft evaluation, which projected Sanchez as a second-round selection.

“Mark’s chance to increase his value and become the top player in college football next year would have been worth $10-$20 million or more — likely more,” Carroll said. “One more year of running a team is almost priceless, so he lost the chance to fully prepare himself and become the very best he could be before going to the NFL.

My question: Kiper projects Sanchez as a possible #1 or #3 choice pending combines. Why are opinions so wildly different on Sanchez?

It's almost as if some of the rumors on the other forums have merit, that someone from the Sanchez family made contact with an agent, so much so that Sanchez has no choice but to go pro. Other than that, I'm not sure why higher ups in the AD would be so petulant.

Or, they aren't so hot and Scott is being the drama queen.

After all, Scott is the Perez Hilton of sports bloggers.

Desmo, why so cruel to Perez? What did she ever do to you? That was cold.

so what if he spoke with an agent? Speaking with an agent isn't against NCAA rules. Taking money from one is. If thats what you are implying, then sure he had no choice but to go. Highly recruited guys from high school have been hearing from agents for a long time by the time it comes for them to declare for the draft - so just speaking with them isn't enough to force them to declare early for fear of being ineligible.

What kind of honor are you talking about? Scott, please quit with the drama queen stuff

Yeah, Kiper has him top 3, McShay has him top 10, PC has him 2nd round. The draft will tell if he made the right decision or not. With the way the draft has shaped up and the likelihood of future knee dislocations, I believe Mark made the right call...especially if he is a top 20 pick.

Sanchez is where Palmer was a sophomore. It took him running a sophisticated offense, during his senior season under Chow, to really get out ahead of the pack. PC is correct, Sanchez needs one more year. But PC doesn't have to act like a frickin' stuck-up-USC-spoiled brat.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
