On Matthews

USC defensive end/linebacker Clay Matthews is at the Senior Bowl this week. Here's what NFL Network's Mike Mayock, who is watching practices, said today.
``The Matthews kid is really interesting. He can help your team in a lot of different ways. He can play outside. He might be most ideally suited for weakside linebacker in a 4-3 defense. He'll get on the field with special teams. He's got a chip on his shoulder because he didn't get a scholarship offer to USC. He's got that healthy chip on his shoulder. This guy could be a second-round pick.''
I've also heard from an NFL GM who is intrigued with Matthews' special-teams ability and believes he could get drafted on that aspect alone.

Story of the year. Someone should write a script and make a movie out of this. It will be SC's version of Rudy, only it ends with our Rudy becoming a multi-millionaire, top 40 pick. Where else could a walk-on LB become a top 40 drat pick. Where else does a career back-up QB become an NFL top 10 QB. Where else does a RB get $50 million in endorsements in their rookie NFL season heading to New Orleans. Only at USC, baby.
