Unhappy Camper
C.J. Gable was not in a good mood after the victory following his removal for a fumble.
``It's kind of hard to enjoy it,'' Gable said. ``I guess they didn't want me to go back in to the game. What can I say?''
Gable previously said he would ask the coaches for their advice on whether to turn pro.
``Probably not anymore,'' he said. `I don't know what I'm going to do.''

"Probably Not Anymore": Meaning i probably wont go pro anymore or I am not talking to the SC coaching staff about my decision, meaning I will most likely go pro?
It's all about you, isn't it C.J... Grow up!
McKnight can fumble like there's no tomorrow and still play but not anyone else, seems fair to me. See ya Gable, have a nice life, he's as good as gone.
Yeah! this one and done mistake business with CJ is suspect. Although I am a SJ fan. This reminds me of when Dennis fumbled at Cal a few years ago. Incomes Bush and Hershel does not see significant playing time there after and you know the rest of the story. Its as though the coaches are waiting for a mistake to justify benching.
If he goes out on two bad consecutive bad notes, he's got an uphill climb. If he comes back, he probably sees this as a Sarkisian conflict. But aside from the fumble, he wasn't terribly effective running the ball. Anyone want to comment on his pass protection?
High and Tight, CJ. You carry the ball on your hip and bad things are going to happen. High and Tight.
He does seem to get a raw deal. I like what CJ brings to the table -- I hope he's back next year.
ha ha, high and tight. that's exactly what i instruct my girlfriends on how they wear their skirts. high and tight
"Incomes Bush and Hershel does not see significant playing time there after and you know the rest of the story. Its as though the coaches are waiting for a mistake to justify benching.'
Yeah that was a really bad mistake wasn't it? Playing Bush [and Lendale White.] If they had kept Hershel in there we might have won a couple of national titles! Oh wait! We did.
Hold onto the damn ball and stop crying.
His fumbles just compound how pissed the coaches got after him for his other poor decision making running the ball. Hitting the wrong hole, delays behind the line of scrimmage instead of hitting the holes..You continuously saw coach getting on his ass after a bad run. I don't think that he's anywhere near being ready or mature enough to leave for the NFL. He can really get into and stay in the doghouse if he does not just shut up and get to work. Marc Tyler is going to beat him out this spring!
Here's how it works at sc, all politicing aside. the best players in the country come here to compete against all the other best players in the country for playing time. that means if you dont play well (like you cant hold on to the ball) there is another blue chip recruit ready to take your spot. Gable get back on the prcatice field work it out and win the competition if you want to see the field again.
You want to leave? Joe McKnight, Marc Tyler and Stafon Johnson will make a nice 1-2-3 punch next season. Nice knowing you, and don't fumble the playbook on your way up to Coach Pete's office.
Boy, reading some of these posts is as bad as running through the ucla blog with its "madder-than-heck" bruins lamenting how they don't have a good football team, and SC cheats, and Carroll is a phony etc. etc. (Sour grapes is what it really is about).
But to interview Gable right after the game when he is tired, embarrassed and maybe a bit mad is not fair. With 24-hours behind him I bet he'd be giving different responses.
He should already know that Joe is gonna get his carries no matter what happens, with the exception of injury of course. He just has to man up & keep competing. He's already in the main rotation so all he has to do is hold off Marc Tyler, but if he keeps on fumbling Marc is going to get his carries & he won't be playing at all.
Stop fumbling and maybe you'll play.
Hey LJ,
Thanks for being the voice of reason. Wolf puts his bait out for the Ruin trolls. Yes, Gable has a lot of work to do, but his fellow Trojans owe him some respect.
Take a look at the UGLA boards; they're tearing each other apart over Norton, Walker, and even... Dorrell?
Walking around the Rose Bowl yesterday I stopped to admire the 23 plaques (#24 is now on order) commemorating Trojan victories in the "Granddaddy of Them All"; UCLA only has 5.
The bottom line is: U Clowns Lose Again.
Fight On!
I like CJ. He does seem to get a raw deal from the coaches. Stafon has fumbled, but does not get benched for the rest of the game. God knows Joe Mc fumbles. CJ was supposed to be our best complete back - running, blocking, and catching. He is in the doghouse, much like Vidal was, but I don't understand why. Just keep her chin up and your mouth shut, CJ, and come back and work hard next season. Good things should happen.
