We hear freshman quarterback Matt Barkley is faithfully attending 6 a.m. workouts that are predominantly attended by the offensive line.

On a different note, anyone catch the USC marching band with Radiohead on the Grammy's?

Scott had me convinced they could never be relevant again under Bartner. They were great and great exposure for the University.

With ALL due respect guys>off topic posts>NO excuse. The subject is MB, why did you ignore that? The subject is huge.

SW, thanks. That is encouraging and even if the kid doesn't gain the starting NOD he should be commended, period. He has proven at this early stage that he has the ability to absorb new plays rather fast. I base that on the comments and his MVP performance at the Under Armour game in Florida. If that wasn't enough he also won the QB's competition a few days later. Don't be surprised if he is the next Trojan starting QB [if GIVEN a FAIR chance].

All the Under Armor game showed me was that he could throw a football well and with touch. I already knew that going in.
You have to remember these All-Star games don't really give a true indication of skill for any players other than RBs and WRs. Defenses have to run vanilla coverages and aren't allowed to blitz. A lot different than MB facing the Trojan 1st team in practice.
I'll hold off on making grand predicitions for MBs first year till after spring practice. Let's talk Radiohead...

I watched the under armor game and Barkley was sweet, good arm good touch and nice poise in the pocket.
But the band was also sweet at the Grammy's and as Tyler mentioned great exposure for the University, how many millions of people nationwide you think were watching. Fight ON!

The point(s) you are missing is/are that according to the game analysts MB had three days to learn the play book. The first two days he struggled with it a little and by the third day he had it down pat. Yes, he was playing with top receivers, OL etc. but his performance indicates that he connected well with them. If you watched the game his play check down speaks for his QB demeanor, game management and leadership. That is WHY he was the game offensive MVP. Had you watched the QB's competition you would have seen his throwing ability and accuracy to moving targets.

Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
