ESPN is picking a Mt. Rushmore of sports figures for each of the 50 states. Fans selected four for each. Not a single USC athlete made it, however Brent Musberger, Brock Lesnar and a horse were among those who did make it.

How could they have snubbed all of the following SC stars: OJ Simpson, Stan Smith, Carson Palmer, Jon Arnett, Mike Garrett, Reggie Bush, Bill Sharman, Matt Leinart, Marcus Allen, Ronnie Lott, Rodney Peete, Frank Gifford, Troy Polamalu, Junior Seau, Willie McGinest, John Nabor, Lynn Swann, Tom Seaver, Mark McGwire, Randy "Big Unit" Johnson, Jeff Fisher, Charles White, Mark Prior, Barry Zito, Lisa Leslie, Cheryl Miller, Janet Evans, Jerry Buss and last but not least, John "The Duke" Wayne?
USC Stars? What about Sandy Koufax? Furthermore, what constitutes a California star? Where they played, or where they were born?
Ummm...Kentucky has a horse on their list...Mass has a California Kid...as does Colorado
Brock Lesnar was a 2X NCAA Champion.
Phil Jackson is on there for 2 States...stupid list
This is sofa king we todd did!
For Illinois, they chose Mike F'ing Ditka over Red Grange, Bobby Hull, Dick Butkus.
ESPN is a joke.
BTW, and OT: In the wake of the A-Fraud steroid report, what responsibility should ESPN play in the steroid scandal. After all, they were still hyping the "back-back-back-back-back" and the steroid stars after it was pretty clear who was doing what.
I know this is an USC board. I'm just sick of reading about Te'o and song girls.
gotroy22,
OJ Simpson is a double murderer and armed robber. I think that would disqualify him from most people's reasonable judgement, other than USC fans
Reggie Bush was an ineligible college player who took money from an agent while in college. His NFL career has been average. This would disqualify him from people's reasonable judgement, other than USC fans.
Mark McGuire used illegal performance enhancement drugs, and embarrassed himself by pleading the fifth in congressional hearings. Again, most reasonable people outside of USC honks would disqualify him.
