USC is in the NCAA Tournament, thanks to a big block by Taj Gibson on James Harden. You knew it all along, right? Riiiiiight.

3 straight McDonald's All-American recruits, 3 straight 20 win season, 3 straight NCAA tourneys. For the first time ever, and ever, and ever! Suck it, FUCLA! Where are all the FireFloyd, fairweather fans now??? Whose going to tell us how much of a weakness Hackett is???? A toast to you, Loco and LJ, for believing! I don't even care if we win an NCAA game. I'm just thrilled that we are dancing. Fight on!!! Elite 8 in 2010.

Am I actually going to be able to buy something that says "Champions" and has a basketball on it?

too funny that almost every post here has a UCLA reference. Good on the trojans for a good run, but who here can say "one and done"?

Umm, I bet Kevin Love can.

Bottom Line- Fucla Sux.

Great win for the BB team. They really dug deep and came up huge. What more could a real Trojan wish for beating A-holes Cal/Fucla/ASU? Those are the worst fans in the Pac 10, bar NONE. The TRIFACTA! Go Trojans.

using winning the pac-10 tourney as a reason to hate on ucla? thats just weird.

good job trOJans, i was rooting for ur hoops squad... im happy for taj, ive always liked and respected his game, im glad hes finally getting what he deserves. but mostly im happy for my brother who is a trOJan, now hopefully he'll increase his enjoyment beyond one sport.

(btw, trOJan football is still Satan's team with OJ as the antichrist, but the hoops squad is aight lol)

Hahahahahahahaha!

Just back from hangin' with LJ at the greatest SC basketball triumph in recent memory. Congratulations to the entire Trojan Nation, the crowd was electric!

Slave Signore Hackett, sei campeone vero, non rallenti mai!!!

No it's not funny, dexedrinejones, what's funny is you on this blog all the time.

Just got back from THE game after feeling the spirit with Locoweed's family. Geez, I thought I was the No. 1 Trojan but Locoweed's beautiful wife and 2 daughters rival my spirit. We tried to get the crowd going with a "USC USC USC" chant, but I guess the SC crowd is not ready for us.

Got into a little fight with a couple of ASU fans because they thought I was celebrating a little too much, I guess. I will say one thing about ASU fans, they are more violent than SUCLA's, but it is all cool.

Was that a game or what. Locoweed and I talked to the legend Bob Boyd at the end, and even he thought it was improbable that Troy would pull it out. But our boys had no quit in them. When down by 15 at halftime they surprised the ASU Satans by putting on a full court press. It disrupted them enough to give us a chance.

SUCLA has enjoyed itself all year with the idea that SC would not make it to the NCAAs. Well, move over WESTWOOD BOULEVARD TECH, because there is a new sheriff in town. And the Trojans will own Los Angeles basketball from this point on.

Scottie goes out for the weekend and we win the PAC 10 Tourney, coincidence right? rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriight. Good job Jill, you should take over this blog from now on.

Tyler Author Profile Page said:

Is it just me or is this blog much more interesting since Jill took over? Actual sports related posts? Basketball scores in game? A chat during the game itself? What nirvana is this?

Oh and 1 more thing - UCLA SUCKS!!

(Is Scott just a full-time perv now? Why is his only post in the last 3 days the one with him molesting the Oregon cheerleaders?)

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. This was a nice win and a nice accomplishment to win the PAC-10 Tournament given our record. But winning the PAC-10 tourney is nothing to brag about. It's the NCAA Tournament that counts and how we do in it. All this does was get us into the big dance when when didn't have a good enough regular season record to warrant a bid.

Bragging about this would be like UCLA bragging about winning the Las Vegas Bowl or the Emerald Bowl...if they would have won those games.

wolfbag Author Profile Page said:

Tyler is right on all points as usual.

I'm sure Smeagol-Wolf, when he's finished with his right hand and cheerleader photos, will be back with his hackneyed, negative spin.

spedjones Author Profile Page said:

actually, nobody in Westwood takes any particular joy in SC's poor bb squad year after year. It has nothing to do with us unless you're on the other side of the bracket at the final four (which, of course, never happens). There's room for more than one good team in town, but as you all know, first-round losses linger, and linger, and linger...

notawesomeruin.........Why are you on a USC blog? I would never waste my time on a fucla blog. I spend too much time on this one and I went to USC.

LAWYER JOHN Author Profile Page said:

SUCLA is so jealous of SC that it oozes out of their skin. But they cannot rain on our parade tonight.

And the SC crowd really got into at the end of the game, giving the Trojans a home court advantage I believe they needed to pull that miracle win out of the bag. Yes, Virginia, there is an SC basketball crowd.

kelphus Author Profile Page said:

A great game, the second half change in tactics by Floyd was great. The effort of the team on the full court pressure in the second half when they could have just been tired..

Really one of the great efforts and outcome in USC history, and maybe we'll start getting some respect on the basketball court.

ASU is a great team and played very well.

Pendergraph is a beast.

We'll enjoy the trophy!

Trojan in Redondo Author Profile Page said:

With Keith Wilkinson in the game, we went down by 15. He was a liability out there and had no business being on the court.

With Wilkinson on the bench for the entire second half, completely different game and team.

The key is to make sure Wilkinson never plays.

Is it true the Tings celebrated the win by taking their pants off?

Blue_Badge Author Profile Page said:

No, but it's true that Tusk's mom celebrated by not charging tonight. Go back to sucla's blog jabroni.

uscmike Author Profile Page said:

Did anybody else notice that Pendergraf kept moving on his screens for Harding? He was shuffling his feet after being set, or leaning into the pick, instead of keeping straight. The refs never called it once.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
