Spring is in the air...
Spring football starts Saturday. Beside the quarterback competition, what are you most looking forward to about spring football? Any particular player or battle at a position other than quarterback?

About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."

I'm looking forward to:
1. Jill or Ramona taking over this blog
2. No More Scott Wolf
3. No more sick obsession by a 50-year old angry douchebag with a certain 19 year old Oregon Cheerleader.
Panchito.
No offense to Jill and Ramona, but the posts are totally vanilla and boring. I can go read a basic, straightforward line on SC anywhere. I come to the blog to be entertained by Scott's bitching. The guy posts all the time, usually has something interesting to say, and gets pretty good inside information a lot of the time that is unavailable anywhere else. It is far more often than not true. I don't need to come here to read: "SC played hard but lost to Michigan State" or "Spring practice is coming up." I come here for dirt!
I know I am going to get beaten down for even hinting at defending Wolf, but despite his grudges, his overboard cheerleader thing, his bitchiness and his consistent negativity, I like coming to his blog--and the fact that he DOES NOT censor it.
And besides quarterback, I am looking forward to seeing how the D-line and defensive ends shape up. It will be also interesting to see which younger offensive linemen stand out, but none of them will start. Other than that, I see the positions pretty much locked down and set.
Starting QB! We need someone better than Craft. (Oh, wait, wrong blog...)
Well I think it's clear who will win out the QB competition. So I'm more excited to see the development of the running backs. This is the first time their minds should be clear since it's not going to be such a huge pile of RBs fighting for position. Well not as big as the last couple years. I guess #3, I'm curious about the linebackers. Big shoes to fill
Linebackers. I think this and QB will determine if SC drops off or is still in the hunt for the BCS title.
Marky Mark......I agree with much of what you say. I miss the constant posts of Wolf. I like that people can disagree with him and not get sensored. By the way, he will dump someone who gets too personal. I disagree with much that Scott says, and I get creaped out with the obsession about cheerleaders, but I come to this blog more than any other SC spot. It's just been too boring since he's been gone.
LBs. If they can be even average this team will be very special.
As for offense - If Bates knows what's good for him he's gotta be ready to run on 60% of downs. With a veteran O-line and all the RBs back we should be able to dominate the run game and take a lot of pressure off the QBs.
I'm actually excited about the LBs and if Luthur Brown can actually remain healthy enough to fulfill his once lofty expectations..The LB corps could become a much deeper and more dominating group than anyone ever expected.
I have really enjoyed Jill and Ramona, and have certainly not missed all the song girl and the Tings stuff. And there has been much, much less hate posting since they have been running the blog. It is supposed to be a sports blog, and it is very refreshing to read some positive posts now and then.
I don't think that the outcome of the QB battle will have as big of an impact (mostly because no matter who gets in there is going to have some growing pains) as how the defensive line comes together. There are some really talented guys there in the trenches, but Franklin needs to get them to play well as a unit and get pressure on the quarterback without blitzing.
Linebacker is definitely the second biggest question mark, not in terms of who starts, but getting them to the point where they don't have to think about what they're doing.
Everything else seems pretty solid. Even though a number 3 and 4 receiver needs to be selected, there's so much talent at that position that it shouldn't be an issue.
I agree with TC and MM - I'm anxiously awaiting Wolfie's return. I'll grant that he is quite creepy with the cheerleader stuff and doesn't necessarily write very well, but he gets the dirt that we don't otherwise have access to. No offense to Jill and Ramona, but they don't give us any information we couldn't find elsewhere.
I'm totally excited to see how a bunch of internet surfers who weren't athletes themselves continue to obsess about how great "their" team is...
