Bullish On Barkley
Here's an aspect of Matt Barkley that struck me as impressive and it has nothing to do with his arm.
He routinely signs autographs after every practice and then deals with a large contingent of media. Those are two things his predecessor at Mater Dei and USC, Matt Leinart, could not handle as a 22-year-old.
``I don't mind (the attention),'' Barkley said. ``That's 'SC football. This the pro team of L.A.''
I hear Barkley's used to the attention. Rumor has it that they bronzed his first diaper.

Just have a feeling that he would not say it like you wrote it, but it may be.
Mr. Wolf, if you have time, can you answer this question: "Do you think regardless if Barkeley wins the QB position will it entice more top level recruits to consider USC considering that every position literaly is up for grabs based on performance? USC has never considered starting a freshman QB during the PC era." Thanks.
Not that truth or context matter on this blog but Leinart signed autographs for quite some time and it was only after it got ridiculous and out of control that he stop signing. He was an ahole at the end but it wasn't always that way
Yep, L.A. has not had a pro team since about 1994. Thank goodness. And so, 18-year olds like Barkeley consider SC to have the same fame and respect as a pro team. That is SC football reality.
Sorry, USA, especially Alabama, Ohio State, and even Florida, but Trojan football is No. 1 in this country.

In the end MB will redshirt but he's making the most of his opportunities. The kid has everything going for him, but it would be unfair (to him and the team) to throw him in with the sharks so soon. Give him a year to season and he will win a Heisman Trophy or two.

I actually waited for MB to finish giving an interview so I could get my mini helmet signed, and ended getting to meet his parents and grandpa. They all were nice and welcoming and got me a personolized autograph. They where ripping mb and joking around. Mb seems pretty grounded. Couldn't say the same thing about bob and matt L. SC is in good hands.
Of course why didn't anyone else think of this?
Oh wait...maybe it's because it makes no sense to compare the attitude of a freshman QB who's yet to win the starting spot or a single game at USC (and who would probably not be recognized by 90% of college fans) to that of the Sr. QB on the most star-studded college offense maybe ever (A QB who couldn't leave the house or go on a date without media coverage).
But that's just me. I guess to you it makes perfect sense though - because you're apparently a moron.
