More Floyd
Tim Floyd took a private plane from Santa Monica to Tucson on Wednesday afternoon and returned tonight.
Whether or not he takes the Arizona job, it strikes me as a little distasteful that he would even interview with a Pac-10 rival.
Why? Because I've heard no fewer than 20 times from Floyd that this would be his last job. I learned long ago how trustworthy coaches are but this is not Memphis (close to home) or some dream job.
It's a school that requires a major rebuilding job. This tells me Floyd is unhappy about something at USC, and there is already some buzz on that subject. Whether he is unhappy enough to leave or just sending a message, we will see.
Scott, I find it interesting that someone who stalks college cheerleaders would find anything distasteful.

IT WAS A WIN WIN FOR HIM. SC is in the middle of oen of the richest recruit grounds in Basketball. There are more great players than there are big time teams in LA. After the Bibby Disaster he possibly couldn't look bad.

A big hurt to a program on the rise. Big surprise, we need Jamie Dixon. USC has to offer him 7 years for 15 million dollars. He is a perfect fit and will scare Ben.

This is like the counter-situation to Larry Smith in the 1980s (leaving middle-road Arizona football for tradition-rich USC.)
And just like a lot of Trojans fans were thinking then, it would seem that the Wildcat faithful would be real, real reluctant to embrace a fellow Pac 10 coach who has proved less than daunting.
If Arizona is who they believe they is, the only intra-conference names worth getting excited about would be Howland, Montgomery or (a big maybe) Kent. Romar is getting there, but that's a big reach under Lute standards. Floyd would have to be a major blow to that program's ego.

And so Floyd remains the SC coach. Just as he promised. And that is that.
