Speed Reader
There is suddenly one of those portable speedometers that read how fast you are driving sitting at the intersection of Jefferson and Hoover, where freshman student Adrianna Bachan was killed by a hit-and-run driver.
I'd still like to see USC construct a pedestrian bridge, especially since it is the main walkway from campus to the Row on Thursday nights.

Great idea along with one going to the Galen Center.
I am just concerned that kids will still not use the bridge. I think I'd rather see speedbumps, or curvy border barricades to force traffic to slow down.
Any update on finding the murderous driver? Thank goodness they found the Anaheim car murderer so quickly.
I agree with SW, and it shouldn't be too hard to find donors for the construction of the Bachan Bridge.
It would have to be a long sloping bridge (no steps) starting on 34th Street so bikes, boards and wheelchairs can ride across. Another bridge is needed on McClintock. This would be expensive, but if even one life is saved it will be worth it.
I see speed bumps being more feasible but would support either idea.
Something additional to consider. As far as cost, there were citizens who were willing to put up reward money to find the driver, I'm sure they would be willing to do the same for any of the proposed safety precautions.
And another note on the driver.
The police arrested and jailed a woman named Claudia Cabrera and are holding her on $1 million dollars bail for investigation of vehicular manslaughter. The police are searching for her husband, Joshue Luna as a person of interest.
With all the contractors like Clark, C.W. Driver, and Hathaway feeding off USC and eagerly anticipating the new Heritage Hall, you would think they would be lining up in support of a bridge. If SW pushes for it, I will gladly donate. I work for a large electrical contracting firm with a transportation division and a close friend of mine from SC owns a Heavy Civil construction firm that specializes in bridges. I know the idea is pie in the sky at current, but if someone takes the time to push it further, I would be more than happy to donate were I can.
According to the USC Master Plan, this whole intersection will be rebuilt and relocated in the next couple years anyway.
That said, the accident happened at 3 a.m. Who's going to use a pedestrian bridge at 3 a.m.?
