Who Starts?

What's USC's starting lineup if the Trojans played a game tomorrow? Who starts at point guard? Small forward?
At the very least, Donte Smith will be treated better next season. Name your own lineup here.

It would have been great if you provided 1/10 of the coverage of the actual basketball season as you have with the recent events. Oh to return to the glory days when you were away and we had actual sportswrites covering the SC beat.

It would be great for you to stay as an office plant since you bring nothing to the table. Oh to return to the glory days when you never came on this website, Plant...get over it, Scott is back!

Sydney, Gibson and Stephson in the front court...Lewis and Smith in the back. We gotta go inside and play tough basketball with this line up and if the D collapses on our big men, gotta pass out to Lewis and let him do his thing.

Off the bench we'll have Washington and Vuchick (sp?) to help the bigs and Simmons to help the guards...but we are awfully weak in the back court...

So when does Miller get a look at? LOL

Well Hackett leaving means TF can get a real point guard, like Lamont Jones of Oak Hill Academy who would probably love the chance to start as a freshman for a former NBA coach. (The LA Times actually covered this as they know USC has a basketball team.)

Even if Gibson leaves, you have Stephenson and Sidney up front with Lewis at the 2.

Donte Smith should be ecstatic he got the scholarship he has because he did not deserve one, and should not play regularly. How well should a guard who can't dribble or shoot be treated?

Two words - Lil' Romeo.

Remember that Gerrity can play in 2nd semester. And, Solomon Hill can play PG too. Kind of surprised that Hack is going. I love his game but am not sure that he or Taj will stick in the Association. If you're likely headed to Europe, why not wait one more year to earn your degree? Here's my 2010, Elite 8 Troy hoopsters:

PG - Gerrity/Solomon Hill
SG - Dwight Lewis
Center - Renardo Sydney
PF - Alex Stepheson
SF - Noel Johnson
6th man - Leonard Washinton
Bench - Marcus Johnson, Marcus Simmons, Vucevic, Derrick Williams, Donte Smith

Enough of Lil Romeo already. He is the last man on the basketball team and the last man on any team never plays. In the tournament most of the teams were only going 7 men deep. So I don't see Romeo as either a plus or a minus.

Hackett was not a true point guard, and although he improved immensely with his ball handling this year, he still was not good at moving the ball and helping to create shots for his teammates. Hackett figures even if he drops into the Italian League he can probably bag a million bucks over the next 5-years. Not bad.

Taj is a tough call. He is not getting any younger and will he improve that much with another year of seasoning? He has severe limitations on the offensive end. He would be a gamble and project for any team. But I still would love to have him return to SC, but have never counted on it.

Donte Smith did not impress.

The 2009-2010 team will be too young to expect too much.

If USC played tomorrow, then it would be the same line-up that started in the Michigan State game (unless Hackett has already hired an agent, then he would be ineligible).

Oh, Scott really meant next year. Never mind.

kiss Hill goodbye, and Renardo will never qualify. With the big 3 going bye-bye, does SC even have enough guys to field a team?
