Do you think you can get some sort of discount at Nadine's Irish Mist for your loyal readers in exchange for all the publicity and patronage you have provided Miss Coyle's fine new estalishment?

What are your views on today's LA Times special report detailing the history of cheating and covering up at USC?

I guess that must be the baby blue version of the LA Times silverlake-bruin is reading, because the article I read was criticizing USC's refusal to discuss the investigations with the media and the lack of obvious signs of diligent and continuing internal investigations. Like the article said, the "NCAA bylaws forbid schools from publicly disclosing information from the association's investigations until the probes are complete." USC is taking this a bit farther by also refusing to disclose information from its own investigation, under the theory that it's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to NCAA rules. As far as the Bush investigation, a big reason for silence could simply be that the bulk of the internal investigation was probably completed three years ago--there's likely nothing new to report.

Scott: Any reaction from USC regarding being awarded the 2008 Pac-10 Men's Tennis championship, after UCLA self-reported using an ineligible player?

Hey Scott, just wanted to say I have been to Nadine's Irish Mist in Sunset Beach (just down the street from me) and it's a pretty cool place. The food is not that great but what do you expect from an Irish pub?

There seem to be a plot of surfers and bikers and the only Irish people I have come across are Nadine Coyle's parents and sisters. You can easily tell who the Coyles are and who the employees are as the Coyles have thick Irish accents you can't understand. They seem like good working Irish folk without any pretension.

The pub itself is quite small and definitely not some trendy Hollywood type bar. Nadine's dad just goes around table to table asking everyone how they are and from what I can gather, the entire family live in the same house nearby and Nadine will be there soon once the current UK tour of Girls Aloud ends.

I used to go there every now and then when it was simply "Irish Mist" and that place was a complete rundown dump. It was usually closed down by the Orange County Health Department or the California State Alcohol and Beverage Control. Nadine has completely gutted the place and the new Nadine's Irish Mist is very clean and sterile, looking nothing like the old dive it once was. Big improvement.

So it's a good little pub. Nothing fancy and I don't think any of the locals there have a clue who Nadine even is. Not sure how Irish it really is but the staff are friendly and Nadine's sisters look just like her.
