Money, Money, Money

When Tim Floyd left Iowa State for the Chicago Bulls, he said it was because he would make in four years in Chicago what he would need more than 10 years to make in Iowa.
So it's no surprise he resigned at USC for money. If he remained on the job and the NCAA investigation found him guilty of direct violations, he could be fired and receive no buyout money.
Instead, Floyd wanted to quit now and get some of that buyout in his contract. And USC, which was going to fire him if he was implicated in the NCAA investigation, eventually agreed on a settlement. It's all business.

And on the 9th day of June in the year 2009 began the fall of Troy.

From your article this morning...
"Only the timing of Floyd's decision came as a surprise. Sources close to Floyd said
USC was prepared to fire him, but not until the completion of an NCAA investigation into whether former guard O.J.Mayo received cash and other benefits from his closest advisor, Rodney Guillory, who helped steer Mayo to the Trojans. "

How come you did not share this earlier in your blog?

Scott, just curious if this is speculation on your part or if you've verified it somehow.

It's a pretty strong statement to make and is presented as fact, in which case it would be great to at least allude to if not quote from sources to separate from opinion.

Either is fine, but clarity on your part would help.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! So much for your a TrOJan for life mantra. Bush is rolling over on you guys, by refusing to testify to the NCAA and not paying Lloyd Lake off and thereby ensuring his silence, now Mayo. Proving once again, that the only TrOJans that stick together are used ones.

CHEAT ON!!!!

But, surely if USC had hard evidence of direct violations against Floyd based on our own "vigorous internal investigation", then USC would have had cause to terminate , as well. USC did not have hard evidence against Floyd, but rolled over on him as a scapegoat. USC has horribly mishandled this situation. And, Mike Garrett should be fired, for Robinson, Gillespie, and now this.
