Small World

USC's wooing of Jeff Van Gundy reminded me that one time when I was in Tim Floyd's office, he called the former NBA coach, who was a friend. And Larry Eustachy is Floyd's closest friend in coaching.
Maybe Floyd should be running the search for his successor.

Van Gundy can coach, but I'm not sure he's a fit at SC.

If Garrett hires Eustachy, we'll all know he's on drugs.

Scott, tell me it isn't true. How the hell is Larry freaking Eustachy a candidate? Is this a bad dream?

Scottie, how about a quote from Dwight Lewis on xCTF?

I'd prefer some get a quote from O.J. Mayo, even a "no comment." Can't believe he's getting a free pass in all this.

Desmo what are you going to do he is a pro he doesn't even read or watch the news, he really doesn't care. He just used SC for Pub and he has got a lot.

Hate to agree with the above comment, but it is true, Bush and Mayo don't give a rat's behind about SC. Well, Bush might, given that he gave 3-years to the school, but Mayo was a Trojan for a cup of coffee only.

Still, can we hold these kids who come from impoverished, non-college families to a such a high standard of ethical behavior. Nope. What they learn is this world is nasty, it is everyman for himself, and because they have extraordinary athletic talent they are going to squeeze every ounce of leverage to get the money.

nice.

My bet is Mayo is guilty and Bush will go free. How many of you guys asked your parents how they got their money when you were 18?

Larry Eustachy? USC has already tried and failed with a former Iowa State flameout. And if it's true Garret's looking for someone squeaky clean, then a guy who resigned after having a pre-Facebook photo scandal at a frat party probably isn't the direction you want to go in.

Desmo Author Profile Page said:

Larry Eustachy? If so, then Garrett should be fired then arrested for fraud: impersonating an athletic director who possesses a modicum of intelligence.

Blue Bruin Author Profile Page said:

Something tells me Garret won't be hiring Floyd's successor, and in fact the successor won't be named until Garret's replacement is named.

BB, you just hope MG leaves. So far, he's in charge of kicking Fucla's a$$, check out the Guantlet AND the Director's Cup-which by the way, Fucla has more teams that can score points. And that's because the school is to cheap, anyone can go there.

UVD Author Profile Page said:

ya the school is too cheap and anyone can go there, if you can get accepted, and if you can't then you look into $UC

Jon Author Profile Page said:

Floyd sure has a lot of friends. Too bad none of them are in the athletic department.

I might actually agree with Blue Bruin's comment above (which he made while washing my BMW) :0)

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
