Pete Carroll was asked what he would do if he were in charge of the NCAA for a day.
``We would have an awesome playoff system, that's all I care about. If I could do it. I don't have the system but we could all get excited about it and still capture a beautiful bowl situaiton. We have not minimized them but we want to wind up with oppounity to play with best teams in the country.''

I thought the title of this post would be "True Caesar" or something.

Instead of pining for a playoff system, how about coaching the team to win a championship in the CURRENT system (i.e. instead of coaching the team to "surge" late in the season, coach them to win 12 games and not look past Oregon State). The NCAA isn't the NFL and doesn't have a playoff system: coaching your team to win the Superbowl in the college system won't work.

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
