About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."

Wow, what enlightenment that people would want approval and acceptance from their highly successful mentor.
well for starters, they should all send get well cards and flowers to Bark. Chetey Petey would really like that.
And how about one to the ucla qb too...and some soup, blended well, with a straw...
Nice color piece. Seto is the real interesting cat of the bunch. He has been groomed from scratch. My prediction for the current coaching tree... Coach O and Holt have careers as top notch coordinators. Sark has a long steady career as a head coach, maybe .500 for a decade, .750 for a decade, then .500 for a decade. Kiff will have a couple tough years, then start killing it in Tennessee. Seto will stay with SC for another decade as coordinator then will take over when Carroll retires on top of his game. Oh, and Chow fades into obscurity.
valuable, Darth Sidious' approval was to his assts also:
General Grievous, Count Dooku, Darth Maul, and of course, Darth Vader.
great obsequiousness in trojan nation i sense.
meditate on this, i will.
BoscoH.......Sark will be fired if he's ".500 for the decade". He won't last past his first contract (5 years?) if he isn't winning by the end of it. How soon we forget that Washington was the premier team in the Pac 10 in the 90s.
"Orgeron was an abysmal failure at Ol' Miss" - that is simply not true.
Coach O recruited the heck out of that school and set a super solid foundation for what they have become. Every meaningful player on that roster was recruited by Ed Orgeron, including star quarterback transfer, Jevan Snead. It's just unfortunate the school gave up on Orgeron the year before his star recruit became eligible. If you were to look at the poo-poo platter of QBs Orgeron had to deal with when coaching Ol' Miss, you would understand why he did not succeed there.
Scooter, you are a shame to your profession.
Scott,
Well said in your article. As for the Pete Carroll genealogy, it should be to nobody’s surprised in the next few years when students of Pete’s teaching philosophy find success; evident in the form of National Rankings. I am Pro-Pete Carroll, however coaching successes (Sark, Holt, Kiffin, and Walker-mainly the younger coaches, learning to be better coaches) have got to be a direct correlation to the laid back/highly competitive atmosphere brought into these programs. I am not sure if the kids being recruited respond best to this culture, but in the USC Camp, it has been successful for nearly a decade (It would be successful if, USC lost 2 or 3 games a year).
Scott, you seem like a journalist who takes the high road when keeping us current with Trojan Football. Is the “Pete Carroll” you see on campus, on the practice field, in a Better LA, off the record; the same Pete on ESPN and in press conferences? One thing I find amazing is Pete Carroll’s ability to find great coaches! Not only do the Trojans Reload year after year with Blue Chips and Great Players, Sleepers, and Walk-On’s (with exception to the Ting Brothers) but the losses of good coaches have not set us back either (including Norm Chow-great coach!). Whatever Mr. Garrett is paying for his Football HC, it is worth it. Is there another Program in the Country with this much energy (after last night… Miami? Maybe? Washington or BYU?)
Signed,
Pete Carroll
-USC Head Football Coach
All kidding aside, I dread the day Pete Carroll finds competing for Pac -10 and National Championships not a big enough goals! Our loss and the NFL’s gain.
