About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."

the new mean and lean Wolf appears to be brimming with confidence and sav-wah-fair...gone is the strained nervous mug that he usually shows when surrounded by such babes. wolf, what is your secret??
Got back last night from Columbus and here are some observations:
They are radical fans, 90% in colors and a good percentage of those in jerseys;
The Row is the same as any Row in America-- egotistical 18-22 year old guys, many of whom are drunk, and cute college girls trying to be sexy.
The fans sing songs before the game, nice touch. And their band is as good as it gets, playing a great '1812' rendition at halftime.
They were really into this game, screaming everytime SC had the ball to jam our signals. I know they get worked up over Michigan but SC brought out a deeper passion, I believe, because of who the Trojans are.
Pretty good sportsmanship in the stands. I was sitting alone with Ohio State fans in the good seats (they put SC in the endzone--ugggh) and I was pretty quiet until the end of the game, when I could not help myself rooting on our boys. The Buckeyes let me vent and didn't say anything. Of course I was careful not to offend, not wearing my colors and not taunting them at the end (then they might have tried to kill me).
It is a beautiful campus that seems to have been built in the woods-- large lawn areas amid the various trees.
Good job, Scott!
Howdy LJ,
It sounds like they're very nice people. I know first hand how hard you root for our boys, so I'm heartened and optimistic for our future simply because the Ohioans didn't kill you. I couldn't say as much for those murderous Sundevils.
May God Bless Middle America!
They're actually not too bad, considering they are from the Midwest and all.
I would put them on par, or perhaps the slightest bit ahead, of this decade's USC Song Girls. But still well below the Oregon cheerleaders, of course.
I'm guessing that Scott cut out the Patron too. Fight On Scott! And this squad is pretty good. Fight On Buckeye Cheerleaders!
Lawyer John, great observation and way to represent who Trojans are in such a hostile environment and being a classy individual. My wife graduated from there (she's a converted USC Trojan Fan) and she says that OSU people are just NUTS about their team. Rightfully so, not to mention being that it's Ohio, especially in Columbus, they have some hot girls there. I think they really, really wanted this one, just for pride's sake and the Big 10's sake, but deep down, like all Trojans, they want to beat their main rival.
Nice Bayern uni.
The child on the far left (furthest to Scotts right)of the pic looks like she just outdid (and probably doubled) Coach Bates pre game coffee consumption! LOL
Wolfie, you know what would be really fun? Try to get a picture with these cheerleaders AFTER the game.
Yeah, they are surprisingly good. No real knockouts but not one of them
is a weak link either.
Bravo to Scott!
Nice to hear they were cordial and gracious in defeat.
I still don't understand how Autzen Stadium fans are so mean. I went to Eugene many times to visit my high school friend who when to U of O and the people on the street were some of the nicest people you could ever meet... saying hi to complete strangers and inviting random people into their homes for house parties. But all I've ever heard from any visiting fans (many different schools) is that their fans are the worst on the West Coast. Does anyone know why that is?
Fight on!
Sureshot, let me tell you that sports fans are the worst people on earth when it comes to dealing with defeat.
First, people who are willing to spend the money and deal with the inconvenience of going to a football stadium are probably pretty extreme football personalities (I know, because I am one).
Second, after putting forth all this emotional energy, to lose is intolerable.
Third, as long as one does not taunt the opposition, one will have a longer life span. Because there are a lot of fringe personalities, especially male, who if antognized, will resort to physicality.
And yes, Autzen fans are among the worst in America (but is that because they have a great team most years, and losing is intolerable?), but those Ohio State fans had the most depressed expressions on their faces when SC ruined their season.
Kuddos to LJ for correct use of the word "physicality". Now explain it to Petros.
